    Iran Air Boeing Crashes in Terman village

    What: Iran Air Boeing 727-200 en route from Tehran Mehrabad to Uromiyeh
    Where: Uromiyeh Iran
    When: Jan 9th 2011 7:45pm
    Who: 94 passengers and 12 crew (alternately reported as 93 passengers and 11 crew)
    Why: The weather was foggy and it was snowing. While on final approach to Urmia Airport runway 21 the crew had to perform a go-around, but five miles from the airport struck the mountainous area of Terman village.

    The Deputy Minister of Roads and Transportation reported this as a crash during a forced landing outside the airport.

    The impact shattered the plane. 33 were rescued by emergency responders and hospitalized. 73 bodies were recovered, including all 12 crew members. There are 77 confirmed dead (currently), 42 of whom have been identified.

    Twin Engine Plane Crashes in NC Waters


    On Jan 13, 2013, a private plane with two aboard taking off from Roanoke Island crashed into the water on its second approach back to the airport.

    ATC made contact with the plane before it came down with the pilot making no indication of problems.

    The female passenger was rescued from the water and taken to Outer Banks Hospital. The coast guard is searching for the pilot.

    The plane went down between 11 and 11:15 a.m and the weather was hazy with rolling periods of fog. Visibility on the ground was less than 30 feet.

    The woman was located in the water, found by rescuers who followed her screams. They were unaware that a plane had crashed.

    Hatteras Island and other dive teams were searching for the Pilot in limited shifts due to the water temperature, looking from Umstead to Virginia Dare bridges. Agencies cooperating in the search included Dare County Emergency Management, Dare County EMS, Roanoke Island Volunteer Fire Department, Chicamacomico Volunteer Fire Department, Nags Head Fire and Rescue, NC Highway Patrol, NC Marine Patrol and NC Wildlife.

    The search resumes monday morning.

    Fokker Diverts to Guarulhos over hydraulic failure

    What: Avianca Brasil Fokker 100 en route from Florianopolis to Sao Paulo
    Where: Congonhas
    When: Jul 11 2010
    Why: While on approach to Congonhas, the plane developed hydraulic failure. The flight diverted to Guarulhos where it made a safe landing.

    Bavaria: Four Germans Crash in Foggy Forest

    What: Schulter Planungs- und Ausführungs- GmbH Robinson R44 Raven I en route from Augsburg to Salzburg Airport
    Where: Teisendorf, southeast Bavaria, Germany
    When: June 9, 2012
    Who: 4 aboard, 4 fatalities
    Why: 15 km away from his destination the pilot of a Robinson R44 Raven reported that he had to perform a precautionary landing, then disappeared from radar screens when he crashed in a forested hillside 200 meters from a farm near Teisendorf, southeast Bavaria. The pilot apparently flew into an area of sudden fog. At the time of the accident, there was low visibility, and there were low hanging clouds.

    The chopper pilot had only recently finished training.

    The two men and two women aboard were German.

    Insel Air Plane Rejects Take-off in Netherlands due to Computer Error

    Insel Air flight 7I-304 rejected take-off at Flamingo/ Bonaire International Airport, Kralendijk, Bonaire, Netherlands, on April 22nd.

    The Fokker 50 had to reject taking-off due to a computer error.

    The plane returned to the apron safely.

    No injuries were reported.

    Propeller Flies off Fokker F27 in Paris

    A Europe Airpost Fokker F27 owned by Miniliner made an emergency landing at Charles-de-Gaulle airport after a left propeller flew off on takeoff. ??

    The propeller chopped a hole in the fuselage and flew off to parts unknown.

    Officials are hoping to recover the lost propellor blade. Gendarmerie Transports Aériens are providing a recovery number if it is found: 01 48 62 17 00

    As this was a freight flight, there were no passengers aboard. None of the crew were injured. ( The occupants were listed as three crew.)
