A Boeing 757 cargo jet, flying for a DHL contractor, Air Transport, had to return and make an emergency landing at Portland International Airport, Oregon, on January 7.
The plane took off for Boeing Field, Seattle, shortly after 6:30 p.m. but had to turn back after atleast 5 northern pintail ducks hit it and caused engine troubles.
The plane landed uneventfully and no one aboard was injured. Authorities said 5 duck were found during cleaning.

What: Delta Airlines Airbus A320-200 en route from Minneapolis to Tampa Where: Minneapolis When: Nov 19th 2010 Who: 48 people on board Why: After takeoff from Minneapolis, the plane flew through birds. The frame of the plane incurred some damage. They returned to Minneapolis and made a safe landing on one engine. A replacement flight was provided for the passengers. (However, a KARE report said that there was no damage and the same plane left the airport with its passengers at 8:40 pm.)
What: Delta/Compass Airlines Embraer ERJ-175 N604CZ performing flight CP-5887/DL-5887 from Minneapolis,MN to Missoula,MT Where: Minneapolis When: Nov 15th 2010 Why: After takeoff from Twin Cities International, the plane incurred a bird strike, damaging the nose cone of the plane and one of the engines either quit or was shut down.
The airport is next to a wild life preserve. The Metropolitan Airport Commission traps Bald Eagles too close to the runway and relocates them; other birds are frightened off by fireworks.
Goose feathers from this bird strike were sent to the Smithsonian.

In Jaipur at 9:30 on January 5, 2013, after having to divert due to visibility issues, an Imphal-Delhi Air India flight was out of fuel and made an emergency landing in Jaipur damaging a wing and suffering a flat tire. The video says the wing damage was due to a tree-strike after the tire burst.
The Gauhati to Delhi flight diverted Jaipur due to dense fog but in Jaipur too, the pilot landed in fog and low visibility. 168 passengers and 5 crew were aboard. We have heard no reports of injuries on the Airbus A320-231 #VT-ESH but the damage looks pretty bad, if the twitter post is of the correct incident. (That’s the correct # as far as we can tell.) Eastern Airways flight T3-1763 made an emergency landing in Toulouse, France, on April 13th.
The plane flying from Bristol, England, was on final approach to Toulouse when the crew received an unsafe gear indication and went around to work the checklists.
The plane landed safely on second approach. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
