Avianca Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing Without Front Wheels
An Avianca Airlines Fokker 100 jet made an emergency landing in the Brazilian capital city Brasilia, as its front landing gear stopped working.The plane, carrying 49 passengers, was en route from Petrolina to Brasilia airport on March 28. The pilot requested emergency landing protocol as his attempt to lower the plane’s front landing gear failed.
Media sources report that the pilot kept flying the passenger jet around the city, in order to shed the weight of extra fuel. The plane then safely landed on its rear wheels, while the fire crew foamed it to avoid a friction fire when its nose touched the runway.
All the passengers and crew members were evacuated safely.
United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Zurich
United Airlines flight UA-53 made an emergency landing in Zurich, Switzerland, on August 23rd.The Boeing 767-400 plane took off for Washington Dulles International Airport, Virginia, but had to return shortly afterwards due to cabin pressurization issues.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

Alaska Airlines Jet Makes Hard Landing at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport
Alaska Airlines flight 601 made a hard landing at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport, Washington, on May 18.The Boeing 737, coming from Las Vegas, Nevada, was about to land at Sea-Tac Airport when the crew of another plane that was lined up behind it reported fire, sparks and smoke from its left main landing gear.
Landing was delayed until emergency services arrived at the scene. The airline confirmed that two left tires of the aircraft blew upon landing, erupting sparks.
All 173 passengers aboard remained unharmed.
A mobile stairway was brought at the scene to safely disembark passengers and crew.
The incident is being investigated.
