    Skydiving Plane Crashes at East Georgia Regional Airport; 4 Killed, 1 Injured

    A skydiving plane crashed at East Georgia Regional Airport in Swainsboro, Georgia, on August 25th.

    The plane was carrying five people when it went down.

    Four people were killed in the crash. They were identified as Staff Sergeant Aliaksandr “Alex” Bahrytsevich, 31, of Raeford, NC; Justin Duff, 42, of Statesboro, GA; Andrew Swenson, 23, of Daytona Beach, FL; and Chris Eldridge, 42, of Rincon, GA.

    The fifth occupant of the plane, identified as William Middlebrooks, suffered injuries and was taken to a hospital.

    The plane was owned by The Jumping Place Skydiving Center in Statesboro, Georgia.

    Qantas Airbus False Alarm

    What: Qantas Airbus A330-200 en route from Sydney to Jakarta
    Where: Sydney
    When: Jan 1st 2011
    Why: On takeoff, the cabin pressurization set off an indicator. The crew returned to Sydney where they made a safe landing after being in the air a half hour. On inspection, the problem was not the pressurization but an alarm error. The flight continued as scheduled.

    Judgements and awards offer no closure.

    For those left behind, the accidents are never over.

    Angela de Marchi lost her husband in September 29 2006, a Boeing Legacy crash, when 154 died.

    She lost him again at the crash of Tam Congonhas Flight 3054 July 17 2007 when 199 people died.

    And now this new Airbus crash…she lost him again.

    For the families, each new crash brings the memories back, the hope, the loss.

    Southwest Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing at San Jose International Airport

    southwest_airlines_logoSouthwest Airlines flight 2581 made an emergency at San Jose International Airport in San Jose, California, on June 29th.

    According to airport spokesperson Rosemary Barnes, the plane, flying from Burbank, California, declared emergency due to mechanical issues.

    The plane landed safely. All 96 passengers and 5 crew members remained safe.

    Turkish Airbus Birdstrike

    What: Turkish Airlines Airbus A320-200 en route from Konya to Istanbul
    Where: Konya
    When: May 16th 2009
    Who: 140 passengers
    Why: After a bird strike, the flight returned to Konya. Two passengers were taken to the hospital.

    LGW Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter Plane Returns to Germany due to Landing Gear Problem

    LGW Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter flight AB-8512 had to return and make an emergency landing at Berlin Tegel Airport, Tegel, Germany, on July 26th.

    The de Havilland Dash 8-400 flying on behalf of Air Berlin to Salzburg, Austria, had to return due to some issue with its landing gear.

    The plane landed safely.

    All 61 people aboard remained safe.
