American Airlines flight AA-1048 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Raleigh–Durham International Airport, North Carolina, on April 22nd.
The Boeing 757-200 plane, heading from Miami, Florida, to John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, was diverted after the crew noticed a cracked windshield.
The plane landed uneventfully. All 166 passengers and 6 crew members remained unhurt.
The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.
Lufthansa flight LH-474 made an emergency landing in Munich, Germany, on February 24th.
The Airbus A330-300 plane took off for Montreal, Canada, but had to turn back due to issues with the IRS systems.
The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

Why: After takeoff, an oil leak was detected in the Airbus and it returned to the airport. Passengers debarked and eventually took an alternative airbus. One passenger was ill.
RwandAir flight WB-110 made an emergency landing in Cape Town, South Africa, on September 2nd.
The Boeing 737-700 plane was flying from Harare, Zimbabwe, when it suffered loss of cabin pressure.
The crew initiated an emergency descent and continued for a safe landing in Cape Town.
Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
Thomas Cook flight MT-1033 made an emergency landing in Banjul, Gambia, on November 8th.
The plane had just departed for Gatwick Airport, United Kingdom, when it encountered a flock of ducks. The birds impacted both engines and the landing gear, forcing the crew to return for an emergency landing.

Why: The chopper was on a medical evacuation mission when they had to make an emergency landing.
Mallarani Hill is in Nepal, the country where the Buddha Air crash occurred yesterday,on the same day as this chopper emergency landing. Another source says the helicopter “made a crash landing at Okharpauwa of Nuwakot due to technical problems.”
Buddha Air, no connection to Mountain Air other than operating in the same country, suspended domestic flights in mourning for the Buddha Air Crash on Sunday. The victims of the crash will be returned to their families on Monday, Sept 26, 2011, following their autopsy at Tribhuvan University. A committee of 5 has been assigned by Nepal’s Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation to report on the crash within 90 days.
