Why: The light plane crashed for unknown reasons. A beacon initially led searchers to Chicurea but the wreckage was found by Chile’s Air Force Search and Rescue (two Chilean air force planes and a helicopter) in La Cachimba valley, 22 km from La Serena.

Spanair Movie In Ethical Spotlight
Telecinco made a film about Spanair JK 5022. On 20 August 2008 at 14:45 CEST, a Spanair McDonnell Douglas MD-82 JK 5022, crashed on takeoff from Madrid’s Barajas Airport. The first half of the movie aired last Wednesday and now there’s a protest against the second half being shown next Wednesday because the courts have not ruled yet. Over 50,000 signatures have been collected by the association representing the families.

Why: After departing Lyall Harbour on Saturna Island, the flight crashed on departure. Two people—a male pilot and a female passenger— were rescued from the water. Rescuers had a difficult time dealing with near-zero visibility and strong currentsFatalities included Vancouver doctor Kerry Telford Morrissey and her baby daughter, Sarah, and a California couple Richard Bruce Haskitt, 49, and Cindy Schafer, 44, with a cottage on Saturna, Catherine White-Holman, 55, of Vancouver; and Thomas Gordon Glenn, 60, of White Rock.
TSB investigators supervising the recovery are offering counseling to relatives, and recovery workers.
Pilot Killed After Small Plane Crashed in Winchester, New Hampshire
A small stunt plane crashed in Winchester, New Hampshire, on July 13th.
Authorities said the wreckage of the two-seater plane was found in a heavily wooded area near Warwick Road.
The pilot, who was the only one aboard, was killed in the crash. He was later identified as 65-year-old John Everson of Danielson, Connecticut.
The cause of crash is being investigated.
