American Airlines Schedules and Fares No Longer Available on Orbitz.com

Citing Failure to Reach a Mutually Beneficial Commercial Agreement American Revokes Orbitz Authority to Display and Sell American Airlines Fares

FORT WORTH, Texas, Dec. 21, 2010 — Effective immediately, American Airlines will discontinue displaying and selling fares through Orbitz (www.orbitz.com) and its subsidiary Orbitz for Business. Tickets for travel already purchased through Orbitz remain valid but changes must be made through American Airlines reservations by calling 1-800-433-7300.

Tickets for travel on American Airlines and American Eagle – including all international and domestic classes of service – are widely available through a number of outlets, including American’s own website, AA.com, which features our Lowest Fare Guarantee. Tickets, fares and schedules are also available through American’s reservations agents, thousands of travel agencies in locations worldwide, other online travel agencies such as Priceline.com, and metasearch engines such as Kayak.com.

“American Airlines regrets any inconvenience this may cause our customers. While we could not reach an agreement with Orbitz, we are committed to letting customers know of the multitude of options they have to purchase travel on American Airlines,” said Derek DeCross, Vice President – Sales. “In today’s competitive marketplace, it is important for American to be free to customize its product offerings to improve the customer experience as well as distribute its products in a way that does not result in unnecessary costs.”

American also continues to provide its fare content to travel agency partners, both through global distribution systems and through American’s own direct connection technology that is powered by Farelogix. There is no charge to agencies for using American’s direct connection, which allows travel agencies to offer their customers more complete and tailored travel choices, including fares and optional services

AirTran Flight Attendants Announce Six-Week Picketing Schedule in Six Cities

WASHINGTON, Feb. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — AirTran Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), today announced a “Six Cities in Six Weeks” picketing tour. As frustrations escalate over management’s continued stalling of contract negotiations, AirTran Flight Attendants will begin a series of public protests on Monday, February 14 in Atlanta and conclude on April 1 in Baltimore. If a tentative agreement is not reached by April 1, then picketing will continue in six additional cities.

Six Cities in Six Weeks Picketing Tour
Monday, February 14 – Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL)
Tuesday, March 1 – Orlando International Airport (MCO)
Wednesday, March 9 – Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)
Thursday, March 17 – Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW)
Wednesday, March 23 – Orlando – AirTran Shareholders Meeting
Friday, March 25 – General Mitchell International Airport (MKE)
Friday, April 1 – Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI)

Following the announcement of the acquisition by Southwest Airlines, AirTran management approached AFA requesting an abbreviated list of the Flight Attendants’ greatest concerns in order to expedite negotiations. When presented with the union’s “short list” proposal, company management responded with a minimal counterproposal that failed to address the most basic work, duty and rest provisions. AFA rejected management’s proposal and filed for mediation services from the National Mediation Board the following day.

“While we do not want to have to take our struggle to the street, our Flight Attendants deserve fair work rule improvements now,” said Stephen Grimaldi, AirTran Flight Attendant and AFA Chairperson of Flight Attendant Mobilization. “Management has been dragging their feet for too long – enough is enough.”
Ready to begin focusing on the transition to Southwest Airlines, AirTran Flight Attendants may continue to work under the AFA contract for at least another two years. Under the Railway Labor Act, this future change in ownership does not negate the carrier’s obligation to negotiate now with its Flight Attendants in good faith.

ST. LOUIS, Dec. 22, 2010 — The Boeing Company today announced it has received a contract from the U.S. Air Force to deliver C-17 training devices to three sites. The contract value is $44 million initially and up to $72 million if two options are exercised.

The first set of devices is an Integrated Training Center (ITC) to be delivered to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, in the first quarter of 2012. The ITC will consist of a weapon systems trainer, pilot and co-pilot station, loadmaster station and related courseware and support equipment. Airbus Press Release: Airbus opens new supplier village extension in Beijing

The Hua-Ou Aviation Support Centre in Beijing, a joint venture between Airbus and China Aviation Supplies Holding Company (CAS), has opened a new extension at its supplier village to provide enhanced and more efficient support for operators of Airbus aircraft in China – including information and communications technology (ICT) and other logistics support.

The extension provides 500 square metres of additional office space, along with a new workshop area and office for the ICT team – which can offer bilingual 24-hour support to suppliers. An inauguration ceremony marking its formal opening was held today, which was followed by a Supplier Village Business Forum.

“As a part of the Airbus global support network, the Hua-Ou Aviation Support Centre has played an important role in supporting the operators of Airbus aircraft in China,” said Laurence Barron, President of Airbus China and Vice Chairman of the Hua-Ou Aviation Support Centre Board. “We appreciate the strong support from the suppliers and we are sure that by working together more closely with them, we will offer more efficient support to operators.”

Over the past decade, the in-service fleet of Airbus aircraft in mainland China has grown on average by more than 20 per cent annually. To date, more than 620 Airbus aircraft are operated in China, with continued growth projected during the coming years.

“The new extension, which is funded by the Hua-Ou joint venture itself, is a demonstration of the success story of the joint venture and the cooperation between Airbus and CAS,” said Li Hai, President of the China Aviation Supplies Holding Company, and Chairman of the Hua-Ou Board. “CAS will continue to provide strong support to the further development of the centre, which will contribute more to the development of China’s aviation industry.”

The Hua-Ou Aviation Support Centre, which is China’s first maintenance training facility, offers door-to-door delivery services to several Chinese airlines. A total of 44 companies from Europe and the United States have committed to establishing a presence at the centre.
