Why: The three military personnel died in a crash during an attempted emergency landing.
A small plane crashed near Madras Municipal Airport in Jefferson County, Oregon, on August 19th.
The plane was approaching the airport when it crashed and caught fire.
The pilot, who is believed to be the only one aboard, was killed in the crash.
The cause of crash is being investigated.

Why: A plane left Taonui Aerodrome and twenty-five minutes later was engaging in acrobatics,when it flew upside down, made a loop and then crash dived on to the grounds of the Timona Recreational Reserve.
The plane shattered into a mangled mess in the Timona Park area park area. Witnesses heard a single crash. Disaster Victim Identification team is investigating.
The two men in the crash are well known, Dr Ralph Saxe, of Palmerston North, and Dr Brett Ireland, of Queensland. Dr Saxe co-owned the plane that crashed.
Joseph Lepore of Bay Shore, New York, and Jan Paladino were flying the Embraer Legacy 600 executive jet that collided with a Boeing 737 operated by Gol Lineas Aereas Intelligentes SA. Lepore and Paladino guided the plane they were flying to safely while the larger jet crashed into the jungle, killing all aboard. The pilots were convicted in 2011 and sentenced to 52 months in prison because according to prosecutors, the aircraft’s anti-collision system was turned off for almost one hour. The pilots deny wrongdoing, and say the TCAS system was never off and suggest the other plane’s TCAS may not have been working. The NTSB blames the collision on the Brazilian ATC. Air force sergeant Jomarcelo Fernandes dos Santos was sentenced two years ago to 14 months in jail for failing to take action when he realized that the Legacy’s anti-collision system was off.
The case was retried in Brazil Monday and upheld; in fact, the jail time that had last year been commuted to community service was eliminated. In lieu of jail time or community service, now the pilots will only be required scheduled check-ins with Brazilian parole authorities.

A single-engine plane crashed between Amador Road and Gopher Flat Road, near Sutter Creek city in Amador County, California, shortly after 12:30 p.m. on December 24.
The Cessna 172 went down when it was heading from Gilroy to Sutter Creek with 2 people aboard.
Authorities said both occupants were killed in the crash. They were identified as Phillip Faillers, 52, of Sutter Creek and his son Alex, 21.
The accident is under investigation. It is believed that fog might have contributed to the crash.
Tajikistan Airlines (Tajik Air) Flight 3183 crashed on 15 December 1997 on approach to Sharjah Airport in the United Arab Emirates. Only the navigator, Sergei Petrov, survived of a crew of seven and seventy-nine passengers. The Tupelov crashed into the desert eight miles east of the airport. The controlled flight into terrain originated from Dushanbe Airport Tajikistan. Situational awareness may have been a factor.
