What: Cayman Airways Boeing 737-300 en route from Miami, Florida
Where: Owen Roberts International Airport
When: Saturday 14th November, 2009
Who:
Why: The plane made an emergency landing at Owen Roberts International Airport just before noon Saturday due to a cracked windshield.

CAL denies this was an emergency.

Update
Incorrect “emergency” status was released by Cuban air authorities after they had approved the flight’s precautionary descent over its airspace. The plane flew at a lower altitude because of the cracked windshield, and landed safely.

    The plane heading from New Orleans, Louisiana, to Newark, New Jersey was diverted after it encountered turbulence that injured a flight attendant.

    The plane landed safely.

    ANA Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Japan

    ANAAll Nippon Airways flight NH-763 had to return and make an emergency landing at Osaka International Airport, Japan, on November 20th.

    The Boeing 787-800 plane took off for Okinawa, Japan, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew received an indication of decreasing engine oil quantity.

    The plane landed back uneventfully. There were 314 people aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

    Airbus Emergency Landing in Grand Cayman

    What: Spirit Airlines Airbus A319-100 en route from the Nicaraguan capital of Managua to Fort Lauderdale
    Where: Owen Roberts International Airport, Grand Cayman
    When: November 25, 2009
    Who: 133 passengers
    Why: While en route, a cockpit indicator signified smoke in the cockpit; the flight diverted to Owen Roberts International Airport, Grand Cayman where it landed safely.

    On inspection, maintenance found neither smoke nor fire, and instead of rebooking the passengers, the flight continued on safely to its destination.

    Alaska Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Smoke in Cabin

    Alaska Airlines flight AS-634 made an emergency landing in Las Vegas, Nevada, on November 9th.

    The Boeing 737-900 plane flying from Seattle, Washington, was descending toward Las Vegas when the crew reported smoke in cabin.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    What: Centurion Air Cargo McDonnell Douglas MD-11 en route from Miami,FL to Manaus Brazil
    Where: Maiquetía Venezuela
    When: Sep 17 2010 9:09 am
    Who: 5 crew
    Why: While en route, hydraulic system (#3) failed. The crew diverted to “Simon Bolivar” Maiquetía International Airport where Operations Track and Field, Fire Aviation, Medical and Airport Security were deployed. The “Air Emergency Plan” (SAP) was activated and the plain made a safe landing with no injuries.

    Maiquetía is near Caracas in the Vargas state of Venezuela.
