What: Marion County Sheriff’s helicopter returning from a call in the southwest area of Marion county
Where: Ocala Airport
When: Saturday 10/10/2009
Who: Sheriff’s Office pilots Peter Rogers and Michael Turner
Why: While returning from a call, the helicopter lost power. They managed to land at Ocala airport.

According to Marion County Sheriff Ofc. website, Marion County Sheriff Department flies Bell OH-58A Kiowa.

The NTSB is investigating.

    Lufthansa Airbus Returns to Germany due to Hydraulic Failure

    LufthansaLufthansa flight LH-712 had to return and make an emergency landing at Frankfurt Airport, Germany on July 23.

    The Airbus A380-800 was heading towards Seoul, South Korea, when the crew decided to return due to hydraulic failure.

    The plane landed uneventfully and everyone aboard remained safe.

    Thai Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Bangkok

    Thai Airways flight TG-477 had to make an emergency landing in Bangkok, Thailand, on February 11th.

    The plane was heading to Brisbane, Australia, when the crew decided to return due to engine vibrations.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    Jazz Flight Diverts to Canada due to Smoke in Cockpit

    jazzJazz flight QK-8833 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport, Canada, on November 21.

    The Canadair CRJ-100, en-route from Moncton, Canada, to Montreal, Canada, had to divert due to smoke in its cockpit.

    The plane landed safely.

    All 22 people aboard remained unhurt.

    Mir Aero Eurocopter Crashes in Romania, 5 of 6 are Fatalities

    On July 29. 2013, a Mir Aero Eurocopter EC 130 (AS 350 B4) with 6 aboard was en route.

    It crashed in Taureni Lake, Mures County, Romania. Four bodies were found initially; the fifth, Sorin Terbea was found by divers. Sorin Terbea is a wealthy businessman. The woman, Terbea’s company’s marketing director who was engaged to Terbea was rescued by witnesses at the lake. She is reported to be the only survivor. Two German citizens and their child were also aboard.

    The Romanian Police forensic team was sent to Mures to coordinate investigation launched after the tragedy.
