    Experimental Plane Crashes in Oregon

    What: Vans RV-8 kit plane
    Where: hills of Columbia County, 5 miles from Scappoose, Oregon
    When: October 5 2009
    Who: Kenneth Turpen of Bainbridge Island, Wash
    Why: The plane had been cleared for approach, but was found crashed up in a wooded area 5 miles from Scappoose, Oregon.

    Rescuers hiked to reach the pilot, who was apparently banged up, but conscious.

    Malibu Mirage Crashes at Hayden Airport

    What: 1986 Piper PA-46 Malibu, Malibu Mirage s inbound from Hutchinson, Kan
    Where: YAMPA VALLEY AIRPORT, HAYDEN, CO 2 ½ miles northwest of Elkhead Reservoir
    When: 12/22/2008 Time: 1920
    Who: Pilot and passenger Joseph and Suzette Brumleve
    Why: The pilot told the control tower that he was having trouble with the plane’s landing gear. Piper crashes on approach, 10 miles west of the runway at Yampa Valley Regional Airport in Hayden. The deceased couple was part of an investment group attempting to purchase the Steamboat Ski Area.

    The pilot “did a fly-by of the runway and was in a right turn to get on a heading for the runway when about three-quarters of the way through the turn he made an unexpected left bank”

    Sport Plane Crashes in Germany

    On April 26, 2013, four people died in a crash in Germany after taking off from Rendsburg-Schachtholm en route to Rotenburg/Wümme Airport.

    The plane crashed and burned on approach to Rotenburg less than 2 kilometers short of the runway in an open field.

    The names of the victims have not been released.

    An investigation is underway.

    1 Killed in Graves County Helicopter Crash

    A helicopter crashed at a Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) site in Graves County, Kentucky, on July 11th.

    The Bell 407 helicopter went down while it was attempting to land at the site located between Paducah and Mayfield.

    The pilot, who was the only one aboard, was killed in the crash. He was identified as John Love of Maryville, Tennessee. TVA authorities confirmed that Love had been an employee for 17 years.

    The cause of crash is being investigated.

  • Eagle Crashes near Hayden CO

    What: PC-12 Eagle single-engine turboprop from (to) Yampa Valley Regional Airport.
    Where: Hayden Colorado (Routt County)
    When: 01/11/2009
    Who: 2 fatalities
    Why: The Pilatus PC-12 crashed 2 miles from Hayden Colorado ten minutes after takeoff, apparently attempting to return to the airport

    Thai Airways Plane Overruns Runway at Islamabad Airport

    Thai Airways flight TG-349 overran the end of the runway upon landing at Benazir Bhutto International Airport in Islamabad, Pakistan, on December 4th.

    The incident happened when the Airbus A330-300 plane was coming from Bangkok, Thailand.

    No injuries were reported.
