What: Iberia Airbus A340-600 en route from San Jose to Madrid Where: Santo Domingo When: Sep 14th 2009 Who: passenger identified as Maurer David Charles experienced a medical emergency Why: In flight, the passenger became ill, necessitating an emergency landing, and immediate trip to the hospital where it was found by ex ray that he had swallowed bags of drugs.
The passenger is facing criminal charges.

British Airways flight BA-212 made an emergency landing in Boston, Massachusetts, on January 21st.
The Boeing 747-400 plane took off for Heathrow Airport, England, but had to turn back after the crew noticed smoke in the cockpit and donned their oxygen masks.
The plane landed safely. All crew members were taken to a hospital for examination.

What: Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-300 en route from Fort Lauderdale,FL to Chicago Where: Tampa International Airport When: Mar 30th 2010 Who: 136 passengers Why: After takeoff, the landing gear remained stuck in the down position. After circling the airport for half an hour, the flight landed safely at the Tampa airport, with emergency vehicles on standby.

Several different alerts on this plane went off immediately prior to the plane disappearing from the radar, including 1) issues with the windows on the co-pilot’s side of the plane; 2) two smoke alerts, the first one “SMOKE LAVATORY SMOKE” at 00:26 a.m. local time; 3) the second one “AVIONICS SMOKE” at 00:27 a.m. The second alert refers smoke in the avionics bay, which is located below the cockpit, and is where the electronics are housed.
This is also the same plane that was vandalised two years ago at Cairo Airport. In Arabic someone, presumably Cairo Airport workers, wrote on its belly, “We will bring this plane down.”
It is a special concern that the plane had flown to Eritrea.
The US State Department has a standing travel warning for Eritrea, and is quoted as saying “security at the Asmara airport ‘can be unpredictable,’ and had a ‘lack of efficiency and consistency” in screening passengers.'”
“on 2016/06/01, Egypt’s Civil Aviation Authority reported “Laplace” located pings presumably from one of MS804’s black boxes. The vessel “John Lethbridge” of DOS will be joining the search team to retrieve the black boxes. The BEA (FR)confirmed that Egyptian Authorities have confirmed a “signal that may come from one of the recorders” of flight MS-804. The BEA did NOT confirm that a black box has been located.”

What: Cebu Pacific Air en route from Manila to General Santos City Where: Manila When: April 14 2011 Who: ill passenger Why: A passenger who developed a blood pressure crisis was lucky a doctor was on board the fight. The passenger, 72-year-old Leonida Rosqueta had taken her Pretor 40 blood pressure medication before the flight. When she was unresponsive, on the doctor’s advice, the pilot diverted to Manili, where Leonida and her daughter Maribel Pascua disembarked and were transported to a hospital in Manila. The plane took off again for General Santos City after being on the ground in Manila for an hour.
