    Delta Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport

    Delta Airlines flight DL-803 had to return and make an emergency landing at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, Kentucky, on March 23rd.

    The plane took off for Orlando, Florida, but had to return shortly afterwards due to reports of a smoky odor in the cabin.

    The plane landed back safely. All 148 passengers aboard remained unharmed.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    Turbulence Over Hong Kong

    What: Dragonair Airbus A330-300 en route from Beijing to Hong Kong
    Where: Hong Kong
    When: May 13th 2011
    Who: 135 passengers and 14 crew
    Why: A quarter of an hour before landing in Hong Kong, the plane encountered turbulence. The seatbelt signs had just been turned on, and attendants were verifying that passengers were wearing seat belts when the turbulence occurred.

    Five crew members and two passengers were injured.

    Bird-Hit J-Air Plane Returns to Sendai, Japan

    J-AirJ-Air flight XM-2204 had to return for an emergency landing in Sendai, Japan, on September 7th.

    The plane took off for Osaka International Airport, Japan, but had to turn back after one of the engines ingested a bird.

    The plane landed safely. All 84 people aboard remained unhurt.

    Asiana Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Seattle

    Asiana Airlines flight OZ-271 had to return and make an emergency landing in Seattle, Washington, on October 29th.

    The Boeing 777-200 plane took off for Seoul, South Korea, but had to return due to an issue with the weather radar.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    What: American Airlines Boeing 757-20 en route from Dallas to Boston
    Where: Little Rock
    When: 7/26/2009 5:59 p.m.
    Who: 185 aboard
    Why: After smoke was observed in the cockpit, the crew diverted the plane to Little Rock where it landed safely. Passengers were transferred to an alternative plane (Pictured)

    Greece: Air Arabia Airbus Engine Failure

    What: Air Arabia Airbus A320-214 en route from Athens to Sharjah
    Where: Athens
    When: 24-OCT-2009
    Who: NOT AVAILABLE
    Why: The crew aborted takeoff from Athens when the engine did not sound as if it were operating normally. The control panel “Full Authority Digital Engine Control’ (FADEC) warned of irregularities in the left engine.

    The plane slowed with hot brakes; and a piece of the plane was found on the runway, later identified as the engine panel.

    Passengers debarked without incident, and were provided a replacement plane the following day.
