    F-15 Jet Lands in Emergency at Frenso Base

    An F-15 fighter plane had to make an emergency landing at the 144th Fighter Wing’s Air National Guard Base in Frenso, California, on December 19.

    The jet took off for a routine training flight, however, it had to land back in emergency due to a landing gear malfunction. Col. Clay Garrison, a 144th Fighter Wing commander, said the plane’s wheel failed to retract after it took off and therefore, an arresting gear was employed to help it land safely.

    The pilot remained uninjured.

    The aircraft was taken for examining the cause of landing gear malfunction.

    Gulf Air Lands in Oman

    What: Gulf Air Airbus A330-200 en route from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia to Bahrain
    Where: Muscat
    When: Feb 5th 2011
    Who: 136 passengers
    Why: While en route, the pilot’s illness forced a landing at Muscat. The flight was completed by a replacement crew, after the captain was hospitalized after a heart attack.

    PAWA Dominicana Airlines Flight Returns to Puerto Rico after Engine Failure

    pawa-dominicanaPAWA Dominicana Airlines flight 7N-750 had to return and make an emergency landing in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on December 9th.

    The plane took off for Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, but had to return shortly afterwards due to failure of left engine.

    The plane landed safely. There were 112 people aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

    Aurigny Flight Returns to London Stansted Airport After Hydraulic Failure

    Aurigny flight GR-627 had to return and make an emergency landing at London Stansted Airport, England, on March 27th.

    The plane took off for Guernsey, Channel Islands, but had to turn back due to a hydraulic failure.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed

    AA Boeing 777-200 Makes Emergency Landing at Norfolk

    American AirlinesThe American Airlines flight 950 en-route to New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport from Sao Paulo, Brazil made an emergency landing in Norfolk, at 6:20 a.m. on Saturday, April 12.

    The Boeing 777-200 aircraft had 242 passengers and 15 crew members on board. No one was injured.

    A mechanical indicator light, signalling possible fire in the cargo area, prompted the pilot to seek an emergency landing at Norfolk International Airport. However, the airport fire crews did not find any indication of smoke or fire during their inspection after the plane landed.

    KLM Cityhopper Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Amsterdam

    KLM Cityhopper flight KL-1177 had to return and make an emergency landing in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on May 31st.

    The plane took off for Trondheim, Norway, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a technical issue.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
