    Air France Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Hydraulic Leak

    Air France flight AF-7740 made an emergency landing in Toulon, France, on August 28th.

    The plane flying from Charles de Gaulle Airport, France, was on approach to Toulon when the crew noticed a hydraulic leak and declared an emergency.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Allegiant Air Flight Diverts to St. Petersburg Due to Bad Weather

    AllegiantAllegiant Air flight 977 had to make an emergency landing at St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport in St. Petersburg, Florida, at 7:53 p.m. on July 3.

    The MD-83 aircraft, en-route to Putna Gorda in Florida, from Asheville, North Carolina, had to divert because of bad weather conditions.

    According to Allegiant, the pilot had to declare emergency before landing when an “indicator light” indicated a “maintenance issue” in the plane.

    The plane, carrying 146 passengers and 6 crew members, landed uneventfully.

    The passengers were adjusted in a replacement flight.

    The issue is being investigated.

    Royal Thai AF Skids Off Bangladesh Runway

    What: Royal Thai Air Force – RTAF ATR-72-212A
    Where: Bangladesh
    When: April 30, 2012 8:51
    Who: 7 crew 8 passengers
    Why: A Royal Thai Air Force ATR-72-212 sustained damage on landing in Bangladesh when it skidded 350 yards off the runway and into a concrete wall, damaging the cockpit and wings.

    Capt Wing Commander Chakkapol Hirranrattana, Wing Commander Surasak Sukbang and Flight Lt Pitchaya Burrangratchahirarun sustained minor injuries but everyone walked out of the plane. The plane has been judged a total loss.

    The investigation team is led by Flight Operation Inspector Squadron Leader (retd) Masud Akhtar Khan.

    Thai officials aboard are in the care of Dhaka’s Thai embassy.

    Kurmitola fire station’s said they rushed to the scene at 9:25 but “…airport authorities said that no help was required as the situation had been under control.”

    The flight has been described in the media as an official visit and a flight training mission under the command of Wing Commander Surasak Sukbang, Squadron 603 commander.

    Unreliable Airspeed: Blame it on the Bee

    What: SAS Norway Boeing 737-700 en route from Oslo Gardermoen Norway to Malaga Spain
    Where: Gardermoen Airport
    When: May 30th 2009
    Who: 134 passengers
    Why: After takeoff, airspeed numbers did not agree. The crew landed back at the airport about half an hour after takeoff. Passengers were flown to their destinations on an alternative Boeing 737-800.

    Mechanics found the problem. A bee had flown into one of the plane’s air speed sensors (pitot tube).

    United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Boston

    United Airlines flight UA-1258 made an emergency landing in Boston, Massachusetts, on October 23rd.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane flying from Chicago, Illinois, was on approach to Boston when the crew reported they had a blown tire and declared an emergency.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Fighter Jets Intercept Brussels-Bound TAROM Flight

    TAROM flight RO-371 was intercepted by fighter jets on the way to Brussels, Belgium, on September 6th.

    The incident happened after the Boeing 737-700 plane flying from Henri Coanda International Airport, Romania, lost communication with ATC.

    The communication was subsequently restored, and the fighter jets returned to the base.
