    Delta Flap: Emergency Landing in Tel Aviv

    A Delta Airlines Boeing 747 en route from Tel Aviv to New York with 370 passengers and 17 crew could not retract the flaps on takeoff.

    The plane went into a holding pattern, dumped fuel and returned to land in Tel Aviv at 2:00 a.m. after circling for two hours.

    Pinnacle CRJ Emergency Landing in Memphis

    What: Pinnacle/Northwest Airlines Canadair CRJ-200 en route from Detroit I to Huntsville
    Where: Memphis International Airport
    When: Jun 11th 2009
    Who: 36 passengers and 3 crew
    Why: The plane flew into an area of severe turbulence and diverted to Memphis. Weather may have been an issue.

    United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Saint Lucia

    United Airlines flight UA-1643 had to return and make an emergency landing at Hewanorra International Airport, Saint Lucia, on December 30th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane took off for Newark, New Jersey, but had to turn back after the crew failed to retract the landing gear.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All one hundred and fifty people aboard remained safe.

    Expressjet Plane Diverts to New York due to Smoke in Cockpit

    ExpressJetExpressjet flight UA-4199,flying on behalf of United Airlines, had to divert and make an emergency landing at Greater Rochester International Airport, Rochester, New York, on August 25th.

    The Embraer ERJ-145 en-route to Canada, from New Jersey, had to divert due to smoke in its cockpit.

    The plane landed safely.

    No one was injured.

    What: Air China Airbus 340-300 en route from Milan Italy to Beijing China
    Where: Moscow
    When: Tuesday 9.07pm
    Who: 155 passengers 18 crew
    Why: When one of the Airbus’s 4 engines failed, the crew requested an immediate emergency landing in Russia.

    85 passengers were booked to continue to Beijing on Aeroflot and others were being booked elsewhere, later.

    Wizz Air Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Liverpool

    Wizz Air flight W6-1011 made an emergency landing in Liverpool, England, on September 7th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Katowice, Poland, was on final approach to Liverpool when the crew requested emergency assistance, reporting that a smartphone in the cabin had started emitting smoke.

    The crew secured the phone while the plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained safe.
