    Delta Airlines Flight Returns to JFK Airport After Bird Strike

    Delta Airlines flight DL-2836 had to return and make an emergency landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, on March 31st.

    The Airbus A319-100 plane took off for Denver, Colorado, but had to turn back due to a bird strike.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    What: Air France Boeing 777 en route from Paris to Singapore
    Where: Henri Coanda Airport, Bucharest
    When: Oct 7th 2009
    Who: 307 passengers and 18 crew
    Why: When a passenger suffered a heart attack on the plane, and the flight diverted to Bucharest where he was removed from the plane, the rest of the passengers debarked. It was determined he died of the heart attack. There is no mention if the flight had (or used) an on board a defib machine.

    The flight could not continue because of a technical problem. The other passengers stayed in the terminal or were put up in hotels and rerouted.

    Turkish Airlines Plane Returns to Istanbul due to Technical Issue

    Turkish Airlines flight TK-1857 had to return and make an emergency landing in Istanbul, Turkey, on August 27th.

    The Airbus A330-300 plane took off for Madrid, Spain, but had to turn back due to a technical issue.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Geneva

    United Airlines flight UA-956 made an emergency landing in Geneva, Switzerland, on December 17th.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane flying from Newark, New Jersey, declared an emergency due to an issue with the flaps.

    The plane landed safely. All two hundred and thirteen people aboard remained unharmed.

    Alaskan Airlines Diverts to Sacramento

    What: Alaskan Airlines Boeing 737 en route from Seattle to Las Vegas
    Where: Sacramento
    When: Dec 10, 2012 4:42
    Who: 152 passengers and crew
    Why: While the flight was en route, smoke “unidentified fumes in the plane “developed in the cabin. Pilots diverted to Sacramento where they made a safe landing at 4:42 pm. with emergency services on standby.

    There were no injuries although there was a report of a crew member getting oxygen.

    Passengers said the problem appeared to be electrical, and that a stewardess had “burning in her eyes and throat.”

    Passengers disembarked and were provided an alternative flight. The affected plane is slated for a Tuesday return to Seattle.

    TAAG Angola Airlines Flight Suffers Bird Strike Near Sao Paulo–Guarulhos International Airport

    TAAG Angola Airlines flight DT-747 suffered a bird strike near Sao Paulo–Guarulhos International Airport, Brazil, on January 6th.

    The incident happened when the Boeing 777-300 plane flying from Luanda, Angola, was on approach to Sao Paulo–Guarulhos International Airport.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
