    Where: New York
    When: Nov 21, 2010
    Who: 193 passengers, 11 crew
    Why: After takeoff, ATC saw flames and smoke. The flight returned to JFK. No fire was found, but a compressor stall may have occurred. The left engine was shut down and the flight returned to the airport. Another flight was scheduled departing at 8 for Moscow, for the passengers.

    What: Trans States Airlines Embraer ERJ-145 en route from Chicago O’Hare,IL to Rochester,NY
    Where: Rochester
    When: Feb 22nd 2012
    Who: 42 passengers and 3 crew
    Why: The flight made a fast landing on the wet runway in less than ideal conditions, overrunning the edge of the runway.

    There were no injuries. Passengers disembarked and were driven to the gate; the plane had to be towed, which closed the runway. The plane had minor damage.

    Germania Airlines Plane Returns to Germany due to Unusual Odor

    GermaniaGermania Airlines flight ST-3356 made an emergency landing in Erfurt, Germany, on September 22nd.

    The Boeing 737-700 plane took off for Tenerife–South Airport, Spain, but had to turn back after the crew reported an unusual odor in the cockpit.

    The plane landed safely. All 119 passengers aboard remained safe.

    Transavia Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Amsterdam

    Transavia flight HV-6531 had to make an emergency landing in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on November 3rd.

    The Boeing 737-700 plane heading from Eindhoven, Netherlands, to Tel Aviv, Israel, was diverted after both autopilots failed.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    U.S Air Force Jet Diverts to Iowa due to Cracked Windshield

    A U.S. Air Force Boeing-757 jet made an emergency landing at Des Moines International Airport, Iowa, at around 9:30 A.M. on August 7th.

    The white unmarked jet diverted from its flight plan after its windshield cracked mid-air.

    The aircraft landed safely. All 9 people aboard remained unhurt.

    Fed Ex Plane Lands with Tire Missing

    What: FedEx ATR-42-300 en route from Minneapolis/St Paul to Duluth
    Where: Duluth
    When: Sept 29, 2012
    Who: crew
    Why: A Fed Ex flight landed safely at Duluth International Airport on one tire.

    The flight circled the airport for an hour before making a safe landing minus a tire. The tire went missing somewhere en route and did a flyby to confirm before circling and eventually landing.

    The event is under investigation.
