    Atlanta-Bound Delta Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Dulles Airport

    250px-Delta_logo.svgDelta Airlines flight 4916 had to make an emergency landing at Dulles International Airport in Virginia, around 26 miles west of downtown Washington, D.C.

    The flight en route from Westchester, NY to Atlanta, GA, took off at about 6am on May 20. Shortly after take-off, the crew discovered a problem in one of its engines.

    The Canadair CRJ-700 with 58 passengers diverted towards the Dulles International Airport where it made an uneventful emergency landing.

    The plane is being examined by the maintenance crews.

    Loaded Fokker Loses Tires on Nigerian Runway


    What: Kano bound aircraft, a Fokker 100 with tail number 5NCEO from Lagos
    Where: taxiing on the Murtala Mohammed Airport runway
    When: 8.30pm
    Who: carrying about 108 passengers
    Why: The plane lost two rear tires while taxiing and derailed to the surrounding field. The airline refunded money to some of them while the others were ferried to their destination. Some affected passengers were accommodated in a hotel in Ikeja, and others were checked into Aero Contractors aircraft bound for Abuja.

    NCAA engineers were studying the plane

    The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has held a closed door meeting with the management of IRS Airlines over the incident.

    Transavia Flight Diverts to Vienna due to Medical Emergency

    Transavia flight HV-163 made an emergency landing in Vienna, Austria, on May 13th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane heading from Amsterdam, Netherlands, to Antalya, Turkey, was diverted after eight passengers became sick.

    The plane landed safely. Two of the sick passengers were taken to hospitals while the other six were treated at the airport.

    What: Lufthansa Airbus A330-300 en route from Philadelphia to Frankfurt/Main
    Where: Boston
    When: Mar 13th 2010
    Who: 196 aboard
    Why: While en route, the crew noticed smoke in the cockpit and diverted to Boston where they made a safe landing. After several hours in Boston, the flight resumed.

    Air New Zealand Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Christchurch

    Air New Zealand flight NZ-621 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Christchurch, New Zealand, on May 20th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from Auckland to Queenstown, New Zealand, was diverted after it suffered a lightning strike.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

    Small Plane Crash in Kentucky Kills Four

    A small plane crashed in Barren County, Kentucky, on November 12th.

    The incident happened when the Piper PA-32 plane was en-route to Lake Cumberland Regional Airport, in Somerset, Kentucky.

    Four people were killed in the crash. They were identified as Kyle P. Stewart, 41, Quinton D. Whitaker, 40, Scott T. Foster, 41, and his son Noah Foster, 15.

    The incident is being investigated.
