    Lufthansa Passenger Tries to Open Emergency Exit Mid-Air

    LufthansaLufthansa flight 1406 had to make an emergency landing in Belgrade, Serbia, on December 5.

    The plane was flying from Frankfurt, Germany, when a Jordanian-American passenger started fumbling with the controls of an emergency exit door. According to an airline spokesperson, “A passenger got up and tried to do something at the door, but was stopped by crew members and other passengers…The passenger was then restrained for the remainder of the flight in his seat.”

    The plane landed safely. The man was handed over to the authorities.

    Cathay Pacific Flight Makes Emergency Landing in China

    Cathay Pacific flight CX-260 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Urumqi, China, on October 24th.

    The Boeing 777-300 plane heading from Charles de Gaulle Airport, France, to Hong Kong, China, was diverted after the crew received an engine oil indication.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Bird-Hit American Airlines Flight Makes Safe Landing at McAllen Miller International Airport

    American Airlines flight AA-5772 made a safe landing after suffering a bird strike near McAllen Miller International Airport, Texas, on October 20th.

    The plane flying from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas, was on final approach to McAllen Miller International Airport when a bird hit it.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Allegiant Air Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Utah

    AllegiantAllegiant Air flight 487 had to make an emergency landing in St. George, Utah, on September 7.

    According to the airline, the plane, heading from Bismarck, North Dakota, to Las Vegas, Nevada, had to be diverted due to a “possible maintenance issue”.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    All 141 passengers and 6 crew members remained safe.

    Jet2.com Plane Returns to Scotland due to Pitch Control Problem

    Jet2Jet2.com flight LS-189 had to return and make an emergency landing at Glasgow Airport, Glasgow, Scotland, on July 7th.

    The Boeing 737-800 was en-route to Palma Mallorca, Spain, when the crew reported pitch control problem, prompting the plane to return.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All people onboard remained unharmed.

    The passengers were accommodated in a replacement plane.

    What: Hungarian Malev Airlines Q400 Bombardier en route from Varna to Budapest
    Where: Bulgarian coastal town of Varna
    When: 5:25 am on May 12
    Who: 30 passengers
    Why: The plane experienced an undisclosed technical problem and turned back almost as soon as it was in the air. The plane that turned back is the same as the Colgan Air plane that crashed in Buffalo NY. This plane, however, was not flying with ice on its wings.
