    United Plane Returns to China due to Odour in Cabin

    United airlinesUnited Airlines flight UA-858 had to return and make an emergency landing at Shanghai Pudong International Airport, Shanghai, China, on February 14.

    The Boeing 747-400, en-route to San Francisco, California, had to return due to an unusual odour in its cabin.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    Flybe Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Edinburgh

    Flybe flight BE-851 made an emergency landing in Edinburgh, Scotland, on February 28th.

    The plane flying from Birmingham, England, was on approach to Edinburgh when the crew reported an issue with the nose gear and went around.

    The plane landed safely on second approach. All 60 people aboard remained unharmed.

    Ethiopian Airlines Plane Diverts to Ireland due to Engine Shut Down

    Ethiopian airlinesEthiopian Airlines flight ETH-500 had to make an emergency landing at Dublin Airport, Ireland, on the morning of October 23.

    The Boeing 787-800 flying from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to Washington DC, had to divert due to an engine problem. The crew decided to shut down an engine mid-air.

    The plane landed safely after dumping thousands of litres of fuel.

    No injuries were reported.

    United Flight Returns to O’Hare due to Issues with Cabin Pressure

    United airlinesUnited Airlines Flight 1218 had to return and make an emergency landing at O’Hare International Airport,  Chicago, Illinois, on February 3.

    The plane departed for Denver at 9:01 a.m. but had to return shortly afterwards due to issues with cabin pressure.

    The Boeing 737-900 landed safely and medics checked 175 people complaining of nausea and ear pain. Authorities confirmed that none of the passengers or crew members was taken to hospital.

    An airline spokesperson said, “Maintenance is inspecting the aircraft as we accommodate the customers.”

    The FAA is investigating.

    Vintage Sightseeing Plane Belly Up after Rockcliffe Sightseeing Tour, No Fatalities

    Who: 3 aboard
    Why: On landing after a sightseeing excursion, a 73 year old biplane plane flipped on the runway. The 66 and 64 year old passengers were hospitalized with minor injuries. The 53 year old pilot (Gary) went home. Fire crews applied foam to the leaked fuel and flipped the plane right side up.

    Avianca Airlines Flight Encounters Severe Turbulence; 23 Injured

    AviancaAvianca Airlines flight AV-965 had to make an emergency landing in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on June 4th.

    The Airbus A330-200 aircraft, flying from Lima, Peru, ran into severe turbulence that injured 23 people on-board.

    The plane continued for a safe landing in Buenos Aires, where the injured were given medical aid. Authorities confirmed that 10 people were shifted to hospital for further treatment.
