Southwest Airlines flight WN-4880 made a safe landing following a bird strike near Sacramento, California, on October 3rd.
The Boeing 737-700 plane flying from Seattle, Washington, was on final approach to Sacramento when a bird hit it.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
A small plane crashed near Route 66 Casino, west of Albuquerque, New Mexico, on October 16th.
The plane was trying to land at the Double Eagle II Airport in Albuquerque but could not make it. Two people were aboard at the time, including pilot Michael Vavrek, 68, and his wife Judy Vavrek, 67; both were killed in the crash.
The FAA is investigating.
Gulf Air flight GF-784 made an emergency landing in Peshawar, Pakistan, on April 4th.
The Airbus A330-200 plane flying from Bahrain was on approach to Peshawar when the crew reported an issue with the brakes.
The plane landed safely and was towed to the apron. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
American Airlines flight 1654, bound for Baltimore, had to return and make an emergency landing at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas, shortly before 7 p.m. on September 29.
The McDonnell Douglas MD-80 twin-engine aircraft departed from DFW just after 5 p.m. but was turned back shortly afterwards due to an issue with landing gear.
The plane landed safely after circling around to shed extra fuel. None of the 140 passengers and 5 crew members was hurt.
The passengers were evacuated through rear staircase and were taken to the terminal via buses.
Air Peace flight P4-7100 suffered a loss of cabin pressure on the way to Enugu, Nigeria, on December 14th.
The incident happened when the Boeing 737-300 plane was flying from Lagos, Nigeria.
The crew subsequently initiated an emergency descent. The passenger oxygen masks were deployed.
The plane continued for a safe landing.
A P-51 Mustang aircraft crashed just north of the runway at the La Plata County Airport in Durango, Colorado, at about 9:30 a.m. on July 4.
The incident happened when the plane reached about ¼ mile up in the air after taking off.
The Durango Fire and Rescue Authority confirmed that there were only two people aboard and both of them lost their lives in the crash. They were later identified as John Earley, the owner of the plane and the CEO of Saddle Butte Pipeline LLC in Durango, and Mike Schlarb, his flight instructor; both were in their 50s.
The National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.
