    LOT Polish Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Riga

    LOT Polish Airlines flight LO-794 made an emergency landing in Riga, Latvia, on August 29th.

    The plane took off for Warsaw, Poland, but had to turn back due to a brakes overheat indication.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    Medical Emergency Prompts PIA Flight to Make a Stop in Moscow

    piaPakistan International Airlines flight PK 785 made an emergency landing at Moscow airport, Russia, on March 15.

    The flight, en-route from Islamabad, Pakistan, to London Heathrow Airport, England, had to make an emergency stop, after a passenger suffered heart attack midair.

    The plane landed safely. The airline arranged an ambulance for the passenger, identified as Pervez Iqbal.

    The flight resumed shortly afterwards.

    What: Cayman Airways Boeing 737-300 en route from Miami, Florida
    Where: Owen Roberts International Airport
    When: Saturday 14th November, 2009
    Who:
    Why: The plane made an emergency landing at Owen Roberts International Airport just before noon Saturday due to a cracked windshield.

    CAL denies this was an emergency.

    Update
    Incorrect “emergency” status was released by Cuban air authorities after they had approved the flight’s precautionary descent over its airspace. The plane flew at a lower altitude because of the cracked windshield, and landed safely.

    Jet2 Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Bordeaux

    Jet2 flight LS-252 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Bordeaux, France, on August 10th.

    The Boeing 757-200 plane heading from Faro, Portugal, to Leeds, England, was diverted due to loss of cabin pressure.

    The plane landed safely. All two hundred and twenty people aboard remained unharmed.

    Emergency Landing in Shannon

    A Delta Boeing 767 diverted to Shannon and made an emergency landing on August 5, 2013 with emergency services on standby.

    220 passengers and crew were aboard when the right engine developed problems and was shut down.

    Pilots dumped fuel thirty minutes into the flight and made a safe landing in Shannon.

    The flight was en route from Italy to Atlanta.

    Hard Landing in Denver

    What: United/Expressjet Embraer ERJ-145 en route from Peoria,IL to Denver,CO
    Where: Denver
    When: Apr 3rd 2012
    Who: 22 aboard
    Why: The pilot made what is described as a “hard short landing” and informed ATC that he struck the lights. To exacerbate matters, smoke was reported in the cockpit. A firefighter reported hot spots on the control panel.We haven’t heard verification if he actually hit the lights, but apparently one passenger was injured and the plane was reported as being “disabled” on the runway for two hours.
