    Air Canada Jet Returns for Emergency Landing in Barbados

    Air CanadaAir Canada flight 967 had to return and make an emergency landing at the Grantley Adams International Airport in Christ Church, Barbados, at around 4:30 p.m. on February 5.

    The Boeing 777 was heading from Barbados to Toronto, Canada, when the crew reported fire onboard and sought permission for an emergency landing. There were 200 people aboard at the time.

    Fire personnel were ready at the scene when the plane landed uneventfully. No one was harmed in the incident however, some local residents said they were scared to see the jet flying at low altitude.

    The airline and the airport authorities were investigating.

    Volaris Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Mexico City

    Volaris flight Y4-752 had to return and make an emergency landing in Mexico City, Mexico, on February 24th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Mexicali, Mexico, but had to turn back after smoke was noticed in the cabin.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    Lufthansa CityLine Plane Continues for Safe Landing in Germany

    LufthansaLufthansa CityLine flight LH-2311 continued for a safe landing at Munich Airport, Munich, Bavaria, Germany, on March 30.

    The Embraer ERJ-195, flying from Amsterdam, Netherlands, was on approach to Munich’s runway when the crew reported unusual odor and smoke on board.

    The plane landed safely.

    All people onboard remained unharmed.

    Piedmont plane lands after Lightning Strike, No injuries

    What: Piedmont Airlines/US Airways de Havilland Dash 8-100 en route from Philadelphia to New Haven
    Where: Islip
    When: Jan 7th 2011
    Who: 32 passengers, 3 crew
    Why: While en route near Islap, the plane was struck by lightning. When the plane experienced electrical problems, the pilots decided to divert to Islap and landed within ten minutes. Local weather included snow and thunderstorms.

    Cessna Crashes in Ocean, No Fatalities

    What: Línea Turística Aereotuy Cessna 208B Grand Caravan en route from to Los Roques to Isla de Margarita Venezuela
    Where: Over the ocean
    When: 26 AUG 2009, 08:10
    Who: 12 passengers and a pilot
    Why: En route, the ditched in the ocean. There were no fatalitis and the passengers were rescued by a fishing boat.

    Bangalore Helicopter Dodges Wires and Crowded City to Land on Rooftop


    What: HAL Rotary Wing Academy Schweizer 269C (300C)
    Where: Byapanahalli area, northeast Bangalore, India
    When: April 12, 2012, 4:30 pm
    Who: 2 aboard, 0 fatalities
    Why: After a two hour ten minute flight, the helicopter on a training flight developed engine failure, dodged high-tension wires and other buildings to land on a Bangalore roof.

    The Schweizer 269C is a light four year old plane used for civilian training.

    The helicopter was damaged during the emergency landing, rolling over on its side on the rooftop of Maitri Apartments in the Byapanahalli area in North East Bangalore and leaking some of the 20 litres of fuel it carried. The rotors were blown off on impact with the parapet. Retired Air Commodore Roj Assey and trainee Digvijay Singh survived the emergency landing uninjured.

    The Directorate General of Civil Aviation is investigating.
