    When: Friday.
    Who: 3 fatalities: Pilot Alan Matthews, Nich O’Brian and Emma O’Brian. Mr Matthews is registered as company director of Sittles Farm Flying Club
    Why: Under investigation.

    A witness said “I heard the plane, I looked up, and suddenly it just turned and went straight down like a stunt plane” The single engine propeller plane came down yards from plane tracks after hitting power lines above the main West Coast rail.

    Marine Corps Aircraft Crashes in Hawaii; One Killed, 21 Injured

    A US Marine Corps aircraft crashed at Bellows Air Force Station on Oahu, Hawaii, on May 17.

    The tilt-rotor MV-22 Osprey was on a training flight when it crashed and caught fire during a ‘hard landing’ attempt.

    The aircraft was carrying 22 people at the time of incident, including 21 Marines and one Navy corpsman. Authorities said one Marine was killed while 21 other people sustained critical to minor injuries.

    The cause of crash is being investigated.

    Southwest Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Albuquerque

    Southwest Airlines flight WN-4454 made an emergency landing in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on December 9th.

    The Boeing 737-700 plane heading from Lubbock, Texas, to Las Vegas, Nevada, was diverted due to a lavatory smoke indication.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Venezuelan Helicopter Crashes with 5 aboard

    What: Venezuelan Army Mil Mi-17V5
    Where: Felipe/Sub Tenient Nestor Arias Airport, Venezuela
    When: May 18, 2012
    Who: 5 aboard, 4 fatalities, 1 injured
    Why: During training in San Felipe, the army chopper crashed, killing pilot Col. Oscar Martinez, First Lieutenant Ramses Bolivar and Ribas Daniel flight attendants, first sergeant, and Chon Billonto Ribas, Sergeant.

    Alberto Castillo was not aboard but was injured in the crash, and taken to Hospital Central de San Felipe.

    The personnel were members of the National Bolivarian Armed Forces.

    Reports are that the tail rotor failed (broke?), and the aircraft crashed to the ground from a height of ten yards.

    A special commission of inquiry was ordered by Defense Minister Henry Rangel Silva.

    Monroe Crash Kills Pilot and Three Passengers


    On January 24, 2013, a Central Flying Services Inc Beechcraft A36 Bonanza en route from Beaumont Municipal to Monroe Regional Airport was on approach to Monroe when it crashed for unknown reasons. Four minutes before the crash, the pilot told ATC of problems with the plane’s landing gear. ATC lost contact with the plane at 1:49 p.m. The plane crashed eight miles from the airport. Witnesses saw the plane circle and nosedive into the woods.

    The plane impacted behind Ouachita Correctional Center in Richwood. The manifest says Dean Hart Sr. of West Monroe, owner of Hart Commercial Investments, and Max Larche of Bastrop, engineer with Lazenby & Associates in West Monroe and Don Thompson of Monroe were passengers aboard the flight. The three businessmen were returning from a business trip to Beaumont.

    The pilot was also a fatality.

    Emergency services included police and fire firefighters, firefighters on ATV. Firefighters relied on fire extinguishers to put out the blaze.

    Delta Airlines Plane makes Safe Landing in California after Tyre Problem

    250px-Delta_logo.svgDelta Airlines flight DL-2355 made a safe landing at Los Angeles International Airport, Los Angeles, California, on April 26th.

    The Boeing 757-200, en-route from Atlanta, Georgia, was on approach to Los Angeles’s runway when the crew reported the possibility of a flat tyre.

    The plane landed successfully.

    All 181 passengers onboard remained unharmed.
