    What: El Al 747-400 flight traveling from Tel Aviv to New York
    Where: Keflavik Iceland
    When: Aug 25th 2009
    Who: 371 passengers
    Why: When the smell of smoke was detected on the plane, the flight made an emergency landing in Iceland. After landing, the problem was found to be a short circuit in a television screen. However, there was a delay while it was decided who was to make the repairs. During the 22 hour delay, passengers were provided hotel accommodations.

    UTAir Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Suspected Fuel Leak

    UTAir flight UT-447 had to return and make an emergency landing at Vnukovo International Airport, Russia, on December 23rd.

    The Boeing 737-500 plane took off for Makhachkala, Russia, but had to turn back due to suspicion of fuel leak.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Cebu Pacific Plane Diverts to India due to Disruptive Passenger

    downloadCebu Pacific flight 5J-7945 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, India, on the morning of July 30.

    The Airbus 330-300 had to be diverted due to a disruptive woman passenger, identified as Jeane T., who first complained of sickness and then informed the crew about a bomb in the plane.

    The plane en-route from Dubai, UAE, was transporting 430 passengers and 12 crew members to Manila, Philippines, at the time.

    The plane landed uneventfully and everyone aboard remained safe.

    The plane was cleared to depart after security clearance while the woman was handed over to the Philippines Embassy in India.

    Southwest Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Baltimore

    Southwest Airlines flight WN-330 made an emergency landing in Baltimore, Maryland, on March 29th.

    The Boeing 737-700 plane flying from Raleigh–Durham International Airport, North Carolina, was on approach to Baltimore when the crew reported a landing gear issue.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    RwandAir Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Cape Town

    RwandAir flight WB-110 made an emergency landing in Cape Town, South Africa, on September 2nd.

    The Boeing 737-700 plane was flying from Harare, Zimbabwe, when it suffered loss of cabin pressure.

    The crew initiated an emergency descent and continued for a safe landing in Cape Town.

    Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    What: Japan Airlines Airbus A300-600 en route from Aomori to Tokyo Haneda
    Where: Haneda Airport
    When: Apr 17th 2009
    Who: 120 people
    Why: After touchdown at Haneda Airport, the engine started smoking; flames were shooting out of the exhaust. The crew engaged the ” engine fire suppression system.” Passengers did NOT debark via emergency procedures.
