    SF-Bound United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing with only One Engine

    new-united-logoA United Airlines flight was forced to make emergency landing at Lincoln Airport, after one of its engines malfunctioned.

    The flight was carrying 168 people from Boston to San Francisco when a fault in one of its engines was noticed. The malfunctioned engine was then shut down and the Boeing 757-200 was diverted to Lincoln Airport where it made an uneventful emergency landing at 1:20 p.m. on April 6.

    All passengers and crew members safely exited. Another plane was arranged, which left Lincoln at 7:40pm to take the passengers to their destination.

    Air New Zealand Makes Emergency Landing

    What: Air New Zealand Boeing 767 en route from Honolulu to Auckland
    Where: Auckland
    When: August 5, 2012
    Who: 230 passengers
    Why: When the landing gear light (which should indicate landing gear are in place) did not come on during approach, the pilot told Auckland ATC, and performed a flyby confirming the gear were down. The pilot went on to make a safe landing.

    Hot Air Balloon Emergency Landing

    What: Hot Air Balloon near Recker and Queen roads (destination unknown)
    Where: Gilbert Arizona
    When: Fri Dec 23, 2010
    Who: 5 aboard
    Why: While flying over a neighborhood low enough for residents to hear the fire, a balloonist had trouble with negotiating the winds, and struck a tree. He made an emergency landing
    No injuries were reported.

    Delta Airlines Plane Carrying Oklahoma City Thunder Dented En Route to Chicago

    Delta Airlines flight DL-8935 apparently suffered a bird strike near Chicago Midway International Airport, Chicago, Illinois, on October 28th.

    The Boeing 757-200 plane, performing a charter flight for the Oklahoma City Thunder, was descending toward Chicago when its nose cone sustained a dent.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    The airline suspects the damage was caused by a bird strike.

    Vision Air Plane Lands in Emergency at Las Vegas Airport

    Vision airA Vision Air plane had to make an emergency landing at McCarran International Airport, Las Vegas, at around 2:35 p.m. on August 5.

    The decision for emergency landing was made after a mechanical failure was noticed in the aircraft, carrying 19 people at the time.

    The plane landed uneventfully and no injuries were reported. The passengers were off-loaded at Terminal 1 and the plane was towed out of the terminal. A shuttle bus transported the passengers back to North Las Vegas.

    Vision Air is a tourist company operating out of North Las Vegas.
