    Norwegian Air Shuttle Flight Diverts to Amsterdam due to Cargo Smoke Indication

    Norwegian Air Shuttle flight DY-4314 made an emergency landing in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on January 30th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane heading from Paris Orly Airport, France, to Stockholm, Sweden, was diverted after the crew received a cargo smoke indication.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Ural Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Russia

    uralUral Airlines flight U6-2768 made an emergency landing at Domodedovo International Airport, Russia, on November 21.

    The Airbus A321-200 was flying from Chisinau, Moldavia, when on final approach, the crew reported an unsafe gear and requested an emergency landing.

    The plane landed safely and was towed to the apron. All 112 people aboard remained unharmed.

    Bird-Hit Indigo Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Ahmedabad

    IndiGo AirlinesIndiGo Airlines flight 6E-244 from Ahmedabad to Mumbai, India, had to return for emergency landing on August 9 due to a bird strike.

    According to Ahmedabad airport director R K Singh, the pilot reported the incident shortly after the plane took off and was allowed to make an emergency landing at the Ahmedabad airport.

    The aircraft carrying 95 passengers and 6 crew-members aboard, landed safely. No one was hurt however, 2 rotors of the aircraft were damaged due to bird strike.

    The officials said that no inquiry would be conducted since it was a natural incident.

    Air Canada Plane Returns to Canada due to Maintenance Issue

    Air CanadaAir Canada flight 8993 returned and made an emergency landing at St. John’s International Airport, Canada, on the morning of September 8.

    The Jazz Aviation operated flight, heading towards Halifax, had to return in emergency due to a maintenance issue.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    All 74 people aboard remained safe.

    What: Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 767-300 en route from Addis Ababa to Lagos
    Where: Lagos Nigeria
    When: Dec 13th 2009
    Who: 180 passengers
    Why: On approach, ATC communication failed. With air traffic control’s radar and communication radio out of service, the flight circled, and after two hours in a holding pattern, landed after declaring a fuel emergency.

    Other flights also had the same experience.

    Nigeria’s Airspace Management Agency NAMA was unavailable for two hours.

    Italy-Bound Alitalia Flight Diverts to Canada

    Alitalia flight AZ-631 had to divert and make an emergency landing in St. John’s, Canada, on November 22nd.

    The Airbus A330-200 plane heading from Miami, Florida, to Rome Fiumicino Airport, Italy, was diverted due to a mechanical issue.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.
