    ExpressJet Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Fuel Imbalance

    ExpressJetExpressJet flight EV-3945 made an emergency landing in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, on September 5th.

    Allegiant Air Flight Diverts to Gainesville due to Medical Emergency

    Allegiant Air flight G4-1304 made an emergency landing in Gainesville, Florida, on May 31st.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, Kentucky, to Punta Gorda, Florida, was diverted after one of the pilots suffered a medical emergency.

    The plane landed safely. The pilot was taken to a hospital.

    FedEx Federal Express Plane Diverts to New Jersey due to Fuel Leakage

    FedEx Federal Express flight FX-9792 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Newark Liberty International Airport, Newark, New Jersey, on April 29th.

    The McDonnell Douglas MD-11 flying from Memphis, Tennessee, was en-route to Cologne, Germany, when the crew reported fuel leakage.

    The plane landed safely.

    No injuries were reported.

    Victoria Helicopter Crash injures Instructor and Student

    What: R-22 training helicopter
    Where: Victoria International Airport off of the tarmac.
    When: just before noon Friday Oct 17
    Who: The instructor was seriously injured; the student was trapped in the wreckage for some time with minor injuries
    Why: Witnesses said the helicopter “…was doing an exercise about 100 metres above a grassy training area west of the airport when it fell to the ground, bounced twice and landed upside down.”

    Qantas Flight Makes Emergency Landing at JFK Airport

    Qantas flight QF-9554 had to return and make an emergency landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, on July 29th.

    The plane took off for Chicago, Illinois, but shredded some tires during departure.

    The plane subsequently landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    What: Aria Air Ilyushin IL-62 en route from Tehran to Mashad. The plane was leased by Aria Air from Kazakhstan
    Where: Mashad Iran
    When: July 24 2009
    Who: 153 aboard. 17 died in the accident.
    Why: On landing, the nose gear did not deploy; the main wheels sparked on touchdown.
    The dead include the first three rows, the flight crew and the cabin crew. Also, there were 19 injuries reported so far.

    This was the second Iranian airliner crash within 10 days. Iran should put their foot down on all airlines, government owned or not to insure that every single plane that takes off is airworthy.
