    Small Plane Crashes Gated Community

    What: Beech A-30 Bonanza en route from Asheville Regional Airport
    Where: crashed into Kenmure subdivision, a gated golf community
    When: September 10, 2009
    Who: 1 fatality: pilot Larry Youngblood
    Why: In foggy conditions, the plane apparently hit several trees, and landed between two house with its wings torn off. The NTSB is investigating.

    Small Plane Crash-Lands in Spain; 1 Killed, 1 Injured

    microlightA micro-light plane made a crash-landing in an orange orchard near the runway of Seville Airport, Spain, on August 23rd.

    The aircraft crash-landed after the pilot lost consciousness mid-air and his wife, with “no notion” of flying a plane, had to take charge.

    The flight was heading towards Coria del Rio from Trebujena, at the time.

    The pilot lost his life while his wife sustained serious injuries.

    Pilot dies in Australia Light Air Crash

    What: Jabiru J120-C en route from Swan Hill Airport to a private landing strip near Cullulleraine
    Where: Cullulleraine,Vic, Australia
    When: Jan 4, 2011
    Who: 1 fatality
    Why: Pilot/surveyor Don Pedler crashed nose first near Murray River at Kulnine Station after possibly misjudging wind speed. The plane overshot the runway and crashed, destroying the front section and cockpit.

    The pilot was known to camp out at shearer’s quarters in the area.

    The Lake Cullulleraine fire brigade responded to the scene.

    Plane crash under investigation

    What: small, single-engine experimental Nadiq, a fixed-wing, single-engine plane
    Where: Sandy Creek township, near Miller Road in Venango County
    When: July 24 2010, 11:25 a.m
    Who: fatalities: 57-year-old David Wagner, of Clairon, and former Clairon County commissioner 54-year-old Rob Carbaugh, of Seneca.

    Challenger Crashes in Soybean field


    What: experimental plane (Challenger II) en route from Noah’s Ark Airport
    Where: field in Platte County, 19140 NW Waldron Road
    When: 10:45 am
    Who: Two injured in the crash, pilot Jimmy A. Dulin and passenger passenger, Billie D. Carter,
    Why: After experiencing engine problems, the plane went down in a soybean field

    Small Plane Crashes in Alaska

    On August 29, 2013, a Champion 7ECA Citabria crashed north of Sutton, AK while on a a moose scouting flight.

    The flight was reported overdue at 9:45 p.m.

    The wreck was located on Friday by an Alaska Air National Guard helicopter and a fixed-wing aircraft around 4 a.m.

    The names of the victims have been released:

    Adam Norton, 30, and Derrik Swanson, 31

    Recovery was hampered by weather and rustic conditions.
