    United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Mechanical Issue

    United Airlines flight UA-4269 made an emergency landing at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, Ohio, on January 28th.

    The plane heading from Dayton, Ohio, to Newark, New Jersey, was diverted due to a mechanical issue.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Gear Up Landing in Oregon


    What: C320
    Where: SEASIDE, OR
    When: 02/02/2009 4 p.m.
    Who: Only the pilot Roger DeLong was aboard. No injuries reported.
    Why: The Cessna landed with the landing gears stuck in the gear up position. The pilot had already dropped off passenger Gary Turel prior to the landing. The plane slid approx. 700 feet on its belly and sustained some damage. According to the FAA spokesman “landing gear jams are not uncommon on the twin-engine Cessna 320.”

    Airbus Loses Control in Montreal

    What: Air Canada Airbus A320-200 en route from Montreal Trudeau Canada to Fort Lauderdale, FL
    Where: Montreal
    When: Apr 14th 2009
    Why: After reporting problems to air traffic control and returning to Montreal, on final approach to runway 06L the crew experienced “severe mechanical turbulence” and momentarily lost control of the plane. However, the plane landed safely; and shortly afterwards, the passengers were off to their destination–on board another Airbus.

    *Mechanical turbulence is turbulence around buildings, wind eddies not caused by thermal means.

    Novair Flight Makes Emergency Landing on Suspicion of Flat Tire

    NOVAIRA Novair flight en-route to Chania on Greek island of Crete made an emergency landing at Gardermoen airport in Oslo, Norway, on the night of August 31.

    The crew suspected flat tire after taking off and decided to divert for emergency landing. The Airbus A321 circled around the airport for 3 hours to shed extra fuel before it safely landed. No one was injured.

    Most of the 191 passengers on board were Norwegian citizens.

    The passengers were provided an alternate flight on the morning of September 1.

    Turkish Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Germany

    Turkish Airlines flight TK-1523 made an emergency landing in Dusseldorf, Germany, on January 16th.

    The Airbus A321-200 plane flying from Istanbul, Turkey, was descending toward Dusseldorf when the crew reported possible issues with the nose gear.

    The plane landed safely and was towed off the runway.

    All one hundred and seventy-five people aboard remained unharmed.

    United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Chicago

    United Airlines flight UA-698 made an emergency landing at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois, on January 1st.

    The Boeing 757-300 plane flying from San Francisco, California, was on approach to Chicago when the crew reported a hydraulic issue and requested a low approach for gear inspection.

    The crew performed a low approach and subsequently landed safely.

    The plane stopped on the runway. No injuries were reported.
