    Air Canada Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Engine Problems

    Air CanadaAir Canada flight 8650 had to return and make an emergency landing at London International Airport in London, Ontario, on September 21st.

    The plane took off for Toronto, Ontario, Canada, but had to return shortly afterwards due to engine problems.

    The plane landed safely. All 75 passengers aboard remained unharmed.

    Two Killed After Small Plane Crashes in Texas

    A small plane crashed in Fisher County, Texas, on June 15th.

    The Cessna 172 plane, carrying two people, struck power lines before it went down near near Abilene.

    Both occupants of the plane were killed in the crash. They were identified as Dallas Lee McMahon, 33, of Austin, and Jay “Bob” Robert Leibson, 38, of Burnet.

    Authorities said they were on an aerial photography mission at the time.

    RusLine Flight Returns to Saint Petersburg due to Nose Gear Problems

    RusLine flight 7R-283 had to return and make an emergency landing in Saint Petersburg, Russia, on December 12th.

    The Canadair CRJ-100 plane took off for Oslo, Norway, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported nose gear problems.

    The plane landed safely after burning off excess fuel. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Monroe Crash Kills Pilot and Three Passengers


    On January 24, 2013, a Central Flying Services Inc Beechcraft A36 Bonanza en route from Beaumont Municipal to Monroe Regional Airport was on approach to Monroe when it crashed for unknown reasons. Four minutes before the crash, the pilot told ATC of problems with the plane’s landing gear. ATC lost contact with the plane at 1:49 p.m. The plane crashed eight miles from the airport. Witnesses saw the plane circle and nosedive into the woods.

    The plane impacted behind Ouachita Correctional Center in Richwood. The manifest says Dean Hart Sr. of West Monroe, owner of Hart Commercial Investments, and Max Larche of Bastrop, engineer with Lazenby & Associates in West Monroe and Don Thompson of Monroe were passengers aboard the flight. The three businessmen were returning from a business trip to Beaumont.

    The pilot was also a fatality.

    Emergency services included police and fire firefighters, firefighters on ATV. Firefighters relied on fire extinguishers to put out the blaze.

    Emergency Landing in Kansas

    What: single-engine plane en route to Salina airport
    Where: Kansas Interstate Highway 135.
    When: Saturday afternoon
    Who: pilot Joseph Prelogar, of Kansas City, Kan. and his wife
    Why: The engine quit. The pilot was trying to switch to the fuel tank with the remaining fuel but engine would not restart. After landing, the plane’s nose gear collapsed and the front end was damaged. There were no injuries.

    Turkish Airlines Flight Returns to Mombasa After Bird Strike

    Turkish Airlines flight TK-673 had to return and make an emergency landing in Mombasa, Kenya, on October 13th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane took off for Istanbul, Turkey, but had to turn back due to a bird strike.

    The plane landed back safely. All one hundred and twenty-one passengers and six crew members remained unharmed.
