PSA Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Dayton, Ohio

PSA Airlines flight AA-5390 had to return for an emergency landing in Dayton, Ohio, on March 23rd.

The Canadair CRJ-200 plane took off for Charlotte, North Carolina, but had to turn back after the crew received a smoke detector indication.

The plane landed uneventfully. There were 52 people aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

The plane took off for Atlanta, Georgia, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported failure of right engine.

American Eagle Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Kentucky

American eagleAmerican Eagle flight 5946 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Louisville International Airport, Kentucky, on September 25th.

The plane was heading from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas, to Dayton, Ohio, when the crew reported a mechanical problem and decided to divert.

The plane landed safely. There were 51 passengers and 4 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained unhurt.

Pilot Injured after Small Plane Crashed in Rhea County

A small plane crashed on Dayton Mountain in Rhea County, Tennessee, on June 20th.

The plane went down when the pilot was heading from Illinois to Atlanta, Georgia.

The pilot was injured in the crash and was taken to Erlanger Medical Center, Chattanooga.

The incident is under investigation.

American AirlinesPSA Airlines flight AA-5394 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Dayton, Ohio, on January 15.

The Canadair CRJ-700 aircraft was en-route from Des Moines, Iowa, to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Virginia, when the crew decided to divert due to hydraulic failure.

The plane, being operated on behalf of American Airlines, landed uneventfully. There were 69 passengers aboard at the time; all of the remained unharmed.

The airline arranged a replacement aircraft for the passengers.

Small Plane Crashed into Residential Building in Ohio; 9 Killed

A small plane crashed into an apartment complex at 3042 Mogadore Road, near Skelton Road, in Akron, Ohio, on November 10.

Authorities said the Hawker H25 business jet was approaching Akron Fulton International Airport when it apparently hit some power lines and crashed into the four-family apartment complex. The plane was flying from Dayton Wright Brothers Airport.

There were 9 people aboard at the time; all of them were killed.

The house, that was vacant at the time, was completely destroyed.

The crash is under investigation.

US Airways Express Jet Makes Emergency Landing in Dayton

US Airways expressA US Airways Express jet made an emergency landing at Dayton International Airport in Ohio, on April 13.

The plane was en-route from Charlotte, North Carolina, to Milwaukee when the pilot requested an emergency landing due to a maintenance light indicator.

The plane landed uneventfully. There were 74 passengers and 4 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

The flight was operated by a U.S. Airways subsidiary PSA Airlines.

Delta Flight Makes Emergency Landing at JFK Airport

DeltaDelta Airlines flight 6093, bound for Dayton, Ohio, had to make an emergency landing at New York’s JFK Airport on July 28.

The Embraer ERJ-145 took off from LaGuardia Airport, New York, at 9:14 p.m., immediately after which, the pilot was notified about a possible tire issue. He then declared an emergency and diverted the plane to JFK considering its longer runways.

The plane made an uneventful landing at 11:34 p.m. All passengers and crew members were safely evacuated.

The incident is being investigated.

Ultralight Crashes in Fox River; 1 Dead, 1 Hospitalized

A two-seater ultralight aircraft crashed in the Fox River in Dayton, near Chicago, on June 23.

The pilot, Nicholas Peterson of Arizona, was able to survive the crash; he was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital, Ottawa for treatment. However, his passenger, identified as Jeffrey Carpenter, 50, of Chicago, died and his body was removed from the River next morning at about 6:45 a.m.

The pilot told the officials that the accident happened due to some engine problems in the aircraft.

According to Chief Mick Garrison of Marseilles Fire Protection District, the plane took off from the headquarters of Skydive Chicago, located nearby. He also said, “We believe it happened about 8:30 and the one individual was able to get out of the crash and he later called for help shortly after 10 [p.m.] or thereabouts.”

The FAA along with the sheriff’s office and coroner’s office are investigating the accident.
