    United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Cleveland

    new-united-logoA United Airlines flight had to divert and make an emergency landing at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport in Cleveland, Ohio, on December 17.

    The flight, en-route from Los Angeles, California to Newark, New Jersey, was diverted after the pilot reported possible smoke on board.

    The plane landed safely and no one aboard was hurt.

    An Airline spokesperson confirmed that the passengers were accommodated in other flights to Newark.

    The cause of smoke is being investigated.

    Cathay Dragon Plane Suffers Tail Strike in Cambodia

    A Cathay Dragon plane suffered a tail strike while landing in Siem Reap, Cambodia, on March 3rd.

    The incident happened when the Airbus A321-200 plane was performing flight KA-248 from Hong Kong, China.

    The plane taxied to apron without further incident.

    All 143 passengers aboard remained safe.

    Air France Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Los Angeles

    Air France flight AF-66 made an emergency landing in Los Angeles, California, on December 27th.

    The Airbus A380-800 plane flying from Charles de Gaulle Airport, France, was descending toward Los Angeles when the crew received a low oil pressure indication for one of the engines.

    The crew subsequently shut down the faulty engine and continued for a safe landing.

    All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    JetBlue Flight Rejects Takeoff From Fort Lauderdale

    JetBlue flight B6-2801 had to reject takeoff from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on January 20th.

    The Airbus A321-200 plane was accelerating to takeoff for Los Angeles, California, when the crew received a gear indication and rejected takeoff.

    The plane safely returned to the apron. Everyone aboard remained safe.

    Two Killed in Madison County Plane Crash

    CessnaA single-engine Cessna 150 crashed in Eaton, Madison County, New York, on September 20.

    The plane, carrying 2 Colgate University students, went down shortly after taking off from Hamilton Municipal Airport.

    Both occupants of the ill-fated plane were killed in the crash. They were identified as Cathryn Depuy, 18, and Ryan Adams, 18.

    The FAA is investigating.

    The ‘Near Midair Collision’ at the Newark Airport Prompts FAA to Take Action

    The April 24’s incident where two passenger planes were noticed to be in a near-collision situation midair at Newark Liberty International Airport, New Jersey, has led to changes in the landing and takeoff protocols of the airport.

    The Federal Aviation Administration said in recent statement, “The FAA has investigated the recent air traffic incident at Newark and has taken steps to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.”

    According to the new rules administered by the FAA, the east-west Runway 29 will not be used for arrivals simultaneously with another plane taking off from north-south Runway 4R.

    On April 24, a United flight and an ExpressJet flight came at a distance of 200 feet horizontally at the intersection of these two runways. The NTSB’s initial report termed the incident as ‘a near midair collision’.
