    Helicopter Crash Near Gisborne Kills One

    A helicopter owned by Gisborne Helicopters crashed in Hawkes Bay at around 10:00 a.m. at a logging skid site on Paritu Road, Wharerata, in Gisborne, New Zealand.

    A 53-year-old Gisborne passenger was killed. The pilot had leg injuries, but is in stable condition. The helicopter was delivering supplies.

    Civil Aviation Authority is investigating. Various eye witnesses saw the event. Fire fighters, ambulance and police immediately reached at the scene.

    CommutAir Flight Returns to Washington Dulles International Airport

    CommutAirCommutAir flight C5-4979 had to return and make an emergency landing at Washington Dulles International Airport, Virginia, on July 26th.

    The plane took off for Norfolk, Virginia, but had to return shortly afterwards after one of the engines stopped working mid-air.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained uninjured.

    Cessna Crash Lands on Pompano Beach Street, Pilots Walk Away

    What: ATA Flight School Cessna
    Where: Pompano Beach Air Park
    When: November 1, 2011 reported at 5:52 pm
    Who: 2 aboard, 2 survivors
    Why: A 27 year old instructor Vincent Paul Citrullo and 42 year old student pilot David Bakalar survived a crash at the intersection of Northeast 10th Street and Fifth Avenue in Pompano Beach Florida.

    The crash occurred during a ATA Flight School (Pembroke Pines) training flight while the student pilot was flying and losing altitude due to engine trouble. The instructor took the controls, and the plane struck a palm tree and a concrete pole, landing shy of Pompano Beach Air Park. Both were taken to North Broward Medical Center.

    Two fire trucks used foam on spilled fuel.

    Pilot Vincent Paul Citrullo, a former C130 crew chief and vet, is credited with landing the plane after the throttle became inoperable, and securing their survival, in spite of the plane breaking in half.

    Cathay Pacific Plane Returns to Hong Kong

    Cathay PacificCathay Pacific flight CX-92 had to make an emergency landing in Hong Kong, China, on April 6th.

    The plane took off for Anchorage, Alaska, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a low oil pressure indication in one of the engines.

    The plane landed uneventfully. No injuries were reported.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    ExpressJet Plane makes Emergency Landing in Canada due to Flaps Failure

    ExpressJetExpressJet flight EV-4121/UA-4121 had to make an emergency landing at Halifax Stanfield International Airport, Nova Scotia, Canada, on January 19.

    The Embraer ERJ-145, en-route from Newark, New Jersey, had to be landed in emergency due to flaps failure.

    The plane landed safely.

    Everyone aboard remained unhurt.

    Student Pilot Crash in Jalisco Mexico


    On an October 30, 2013 training flight, a Centro de Capacitacion Aereo Michoacan Cessna 152 out of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla International Airport lost power over Cajititian lake.

    The pilot made a crash landing beside the lake. The pilot Andres Gonzalez, 20, tried to land in an unpopulated area when the plane developed a mechanical problem in the engine.

    Emergency responders included firefighters and paramedics from Tiajomulco and El Salto. Gonzalez suffered only minor injuries.

    la Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil (Civil Aviation Directorate) will be investigating the incident in Cajititlán, Jalisco, Mexico.
