    LOT Polish Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Warsaw

    LOT Polish Airlines flight LO-91 had to return for an emergency landing in Warsaw, Poland, on June 15th.

    The Boeing 787-800 plane took off for Beijing, China, but had to return shortly afterwards due to an issue with cabin pressurization.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    What: Tame Embraer ERJ 190 en route from Loja to Quito Ecuador
    Where: Quito Ecuador
    When: Sep 16th 2011
    Who: 97 passengers, 6 crew
    Why: Landing in Quito in rain halfway down the runway, the jet hydroplaned past the end of the runway to the perimeter wall. Nine hundred feet past the end of the runway.

    There were four injured. The incident is under investigation. The nose section appears to be smashed. The airport does not have collapsing concrete runway arresting systems.

    First Air Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Montreal

    First AirFirst Air flight 7F-866 had to return and make an emergency landing in Montreal, Canada, on September 19th.

    The Boeing 737-400 plane took off for Kuujjuaq, Canada, but had to turn back after a strong odor was noticed in the cabin and cockpit.

    The plane landed safely. All 69 people aboard remained unhurt.

    KLM Plane Makes Emergency Landing After Captain Becomes Ill

    KLM flight KL-643 had to divert and make an emergency landing in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, on February 25th.

    The Boeing 747-400 plane heading from Amsterdam, Netherlands, to John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, was diverted after the captain became ill.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

    The captain was taken to a hospital.

    Sikorsky Crash off Bintulu Coast

    On December 12, 2013 at 7L45 a.m., a MHS Aviation Sikorsky S-76C #9M-STE had eight aboard when the flight encountered bad weather. They were flying to identify oil and gas exploration sites when weather forced them to ditch in the sea 159 kilometers off the coast of Bintulu.

    The helicopter was leased from MHS Aviation by Malaysian oil and gas company Petronas.

    The two pilots and six oil workers aboard were rescued by a passing ship. Apparently there were no fatalities, and no specific reports of injury. They were hospitalized in Miri.

    The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) is investigating.

    The Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) has not released whether or not the helicopter was recovered from the ocean.

    Jetstar Airways Plane Returns to Singapore due to Flaps Asymmetry

    Jetstar Airways flight JQ-8 had to return and make an emergency landing at Singapore Changi Airport, Singapore, on May 13th.

    The Boeing 787-800 flying to Melbourne, Australia, had to return due to flaps asymmetry.

    The plane landed safely.

    No injuries were reported.
