    Allegiant Air Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Utah

    AllegiantAllegiant Air flight 487 had to make an emergency landing in St. George, Utah, on September 7.

    According to the airline, the plane, heading from Bismarck, North Dakota, to Las Vegas, Nevada, had to be diverted due to a “possible maintenance issue”.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    All 141 passengers and 6 crew members remained safe.

    American Airlines Flight Diverts to Denver due to Engine Issue

    American Airlines flight AA-2400 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Denver, Colorado, on December 11th.

    The Airbus A319-100 plane heading from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas, to Vail, Colorado, was diverted due to an engine issue.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Why: On taxi, the wingtip of the MD-83 struck a perimeter fence gate. No injuries were reported.

    Plane Crashes in Pilar de la Horadada, Spain: No Casualties

    Small planeA small aircraft crashed in Cañada de Praes area of Pilar de la Horadada, Alicante province, Spain, on May 10.

    The small plane was going to Murcia from Vinarós when it started to lose altitude. The pilot decided to make an emergency landing at a large piece of land.

    The plane flipped over onto its roof while landing. Both the people on board, the pilot and a passenger, managed to get out of the wreckage without any injuries, except for minor cuts and bruises.

    The local police and Guardia Civil reached at the scene of the accident.

    No Injuries Reported as Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing Near Arizona-California Border

    A small Beechcraft Bonanza aircraft made an emergency landing near the Arizona-California border on November 5.

    The plane was en-route to California when it started experiencing engine trouble due to a fuel pump malfunction.

    The pilot landed the plane on a natural gas pipeline road, around 20 miles east of Lake Havasu City in Arizona. The authorities said the pilot and his only passenger remained unharmed however, the aircraft’s wing was torn off after it crashed into a tree during landing.

    The FAA and the NTSB will investigate.

    Newcastle: Snowy Runway Overrun

    What: Thomson Boeing 737-800 en route from Lanzarote to Newcastle
    Where: Newcastle
    When: Nov 25th 2010
    Who: 189 passengers
    Why: It was snowing when the plane landed at Newcastle, and due to pavement conditions, the plane overran the runway. Passengers disembarked via stairs on the runway and were taken by bus to the terminal. Apparently no one was injured, but anyone who has been a passenger in a hydroplaning vehicle can sympathize with the passengers fear.
