    London-bound Cathay Pacific Flight Returns to India after Bird Strike

    Cathay PacificCathay Pacific flight CX-37 had to return and make an emergency landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, India, on October 30.

    The Boeing 747-400, en-route to Heathrow Airport, London, had to make an emergency landing due to bird strike.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    Everyone aboard remained safe.

    What: Hawaiian Airlines Boeing 717-200 en route from Honolulu to Kahului
    Where: Honolulu
    When: Jun 3rd 2010
    Who: 117 people on board,
    Why: After takeoff, smoke was seen coming from the plane’s engine, and the crew observed irregular indications. The flight returned to Honolulu for maintenance. A replacement jet was provided.

    United Airlines Flight Returns to O’Hare International Airport

    United Airlines flight UA-972 had to return and make an emergency landing at O’Hare International Airport, Chicago, Illinois, on January 7th.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane took off for Brussels, Belgium, but had to return shortly afterwards after right hand engine’s anti-ice systems failed.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Delta Airlines Plane Returns to Amsterdam after Engine Shut Down

    250px-Delta_logo.svgDelta Airline flight DL-73 had to return to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Netherlands, on September 22.

    The Boeing 747-400, en-route to Atlanta, Georgia, had to make an emergency landing when the crew had to shut an engine down due to low oil pressure.

    The plane returned safely after dumping fuel.

    No injuries were reported.

    Boeing Statement on Aires S.A. Accident

    SEATTLE, Aug. 16, 2010 – Boeing extends its profound condolences and wishes for speedy recovery to the families and friends of those lost or injured in the crash of an Aires S.A. 737-700 in San Andres, Colombia. Boeing is sending a team to provide technical support to the Colombia DJAC to assist in the agency’s investigation of the accident, at the invitation of the Colombian authorities.

    NTSB ISSUES NPRM TO REVISE RULES ON ENFORCEMENT APPEALS

    The NTSB proposes various amendments to regulations, which sets forth rules of procedure for the NTSB’s review of certificate actions taken by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA); and rules of procedure concerning applications for fees and expenses under the Equal Access to Justice Act of 1980 (EAJA).

    The NTSB previously issued an advance notice of proposed rulemaking (ANPRM) and has carefully considered comments submitted in response to the ANPRM concerning these procedural rules. This document contains both a discussion of the comments and explanations for the changes proposed.
