    ‘Suspicious Bag’ Prompts Turkish Airlines Emergency Landing in Copenhagen

    Turkish airlinesA Turkish Airlines jet had to make an emergency landing at Copenhagen Airport, Denmark, on June 25.

    The Boeing 777-300ER was en-route from Istanbul to New York when it had to be diverted due to a suspicious old bag.

    The plane landed safely and none of the 292 passengers was harmed.

    Bomb squad thoroughly inspected the bag but nothing suspicious was found. Authorities believe it was an old camera bag possibly left behind by a previous passenger.

    Engine Shut Down over Texas

    What: Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-300 en route from Phoenix to Fort Lauderdale
    Where: Austin
    When: Mar 6th 2012
    Who: 134 passengers, 5 crew
    Why: While en route, the right engine developed problems. The Southwest Airlines crew shut down the right engine and diverted to Austin Texas where they made a safe landing with emergency services on standby.

    Passengers were provided alternative transportation.

    Yanair Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Kiev

    Yanair flight YE-223 made an emergency landing in Kiev, Ukraine, on June 23rd.

    The Boeing 737-400 plane heading from Kharkiv, Ukraine, to Batumi, Georgia, was diverted due to loss of cabin pressure.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Door Ripped from SAS Airbus


    On Jan 25, 2013, a Scandinavian Airlines SAS Airbus A320-232 with 150 aboard was at Gardermoen airport Norway loaded with passengers to Copenhagen when the SAS plane rolled backwards while it still was parked at gate 44. The door to the plane was ripped from its hinges.

    Both the street and the plane were damaged.

    Passengers were provided alternative flights. The crew and airport hope, optimistically, that the damaged can be handled expeditiously.

    An investigation of how this could happen is underway.

    Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter Plane makes Safe Landing in Germany after Tyre Deflation

    Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter (LGW) flight AB-8883 made a safe landing at Düsseldorf Airport, Germany, on July 3rd.

    The de Havilland Dash 8-400 flying on behalf of Air Berlin from Florence, Italy, was mid-air when the crew got information about tyre debris found on the runway after departure.

    The plane landed safely after entering a hold.

    No one was injured.

    Inspection revealed that one of the plane tyres was deflated.

    Alaska Airlines Flight Diverted


    On July 12, 2013, an Alaska Airlines BOEING 738 on flight 769 developed an odor in the cabin.

    Pilots diverted to Chicago where they made a safe landing.

    Three flight attendants were affected.

    The flight made a safe landing with no additional injuries. The incident is under investigation.
