After the plane landed, passengers were provided hotel accommodations. Another plane brought spare parts to Santa Maria, and the flight continued the next day after repairs were completed.

What: UT Air -ATR 72 en route from Tyumen to Surgut Where: Siberia When: April 2, 2012 Who: 39 passengers aboard, 4 crew, casualty numbers pending.
In the UTAIR crash, it has come out in the news no one de-iced the plane. This according to the airport’s deputy director, Vladimir Nyesmachny, who also told the media “Usually the captain of the aircraft makes the decision, as is his right.”
A similar public statement regarding the lack of icing was made by Investigative Commitee spokesman Vladimir Markin, a spokesman for the Investigative Committee “At this moment, the most likely cause for the crash is the fact that the aircraft was not treated with deicer before flight.” However, on April 2nd, Markin had said that investigators considered technical failure as the most likely cause.
Andrei Martirosov, UTair’s CEO promises that from now on, UTair crafts would undergo “mandatory” deicing before flight.
What: VivaAerobus Boeing 737-300 en route from San Jose Cabo to Monterrey Where: San Jose Cabo When: Aug 21st 2011 Why: On takeoff, flight systems indicated there was a cargo fire.
The flight returned to San Jose Cabo where it made a safe landing. Examination proved there was no fire, and the flight was delayed, but continued on to Monterrey.

What: BMI British Midland Airbus A319-100 en route from London Heathrow to Edinburgh Where: London When: Jun 21st 2009 Who: 126 passengers, Why: After the scent of smoke was detected in the cabin, the plane returned to London. The plane was replaced, but no source of smoke or fire was ever found.

When I read of accounts like this one, sometimes I wonder if someone snuck a smoke in the bathroom. Not that I would defend such a thing, but if that were the case, it would be better than there being an on-going problem with the electrics.

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau of Ethiopia released the preliminary report on the crash Ethiopian Airlines flight 302, Boeing 737-8(MAX), ET-AVJ. The flight took off from Addis Ababa Bole Int. Airporten route for Nairobi, but the Angle of Attack sensor recorded value became erroneous. The crash resulted in 157 fatalities.
