    What: Vladivostok Avia Airbus A330-300 en route from Vladivostok to Moscow Vnukovo
    Where: Vnukovo
    When: Oct 24th 2009
    Who: 267 passengers and 12 crew
    Why: After the flight had taken off, ground crew discovered tire debris on the runway. ATC notified the on board crew of the pending emergency. The plane performed a flyby at Vnukovo, and made a successful landing with no reported injuries.

    Eastern Airways Flight Rejects Take Off From Isle of Man

    Eastern Airways flight BA-3287 had to reject take off from Isle of Man, on February 17th.

    The plane was accelerating to take off for London City Airport, United Kingdom, when the crew rejected take off due to an engine failure.

    The plane safely returned to the apron. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Taban Air Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Engine Issue

    Taban Air flight HH-6329 had to return and make an emergency landing in Mashhad, Iran, on October 7th.

    The plane took off for Mehrabad International Airport, Iran, but had to return shortly afterwards due to an engine problem.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

    Using Cell Phones in Planes May Endanger the Flight

    According to Dave Carson of Boeing it just takes a stray cell phone signal “in the right place at the right time” to create serious technological havoc in the cockpit, and older planes are more susceptible to interference.

    Pilot Walks Away from Cessna Crash in Florida Wood

    What: Cessna 210E Centurion
    Where: near Spruce Creek Airport, Daytona Beach
    When: Jan 25, 2012
    Who: pilot
    Why: Just after taking off from Spruce Creek Airport on a test-flight to check his rebuilt engine, the rebuilt engine of pilot James Clarry’s Cessna quit. Eight minutes after takeoff, the plane nosedived and flipped near Port Orange at North Spruce Creek Circle and Tomoka Farms Road.

    Clarry came out of it with minor injuries. No one else was aboard.

    Volusa emergency services responded to the scene of the accident.

    Clarry landed in the woods.

    Tailstrike on Landing Disables Russian Airbus

    What: Rossiya Airbus A320-200 en route from Hurghada Egypt to Saint Petersburg Russia
    Where: Saint Petersburg
    When: Jul 7th 2009
    Who: 176 passengers 6 crew
    Why: On landing, the airbus had a tail strike, which disabled the plane. Substantial damage occurred to the tail. Russian press released that there were no injuries. The plane was taken out of service for repairs.
