What: Delta Airlines Boeing 737-800 en route from Atlanta to Santa Ana

When: November 18, 2010
Why: While en route, the copilot’s windshield developed cracks. The pilots informed passengers that they were making an emergency landing in Dallas; and passengers were able to see the crack for themselves before they left the plane. A replacement Boeing 737 was provided.

Delta Airlines flight DL-2845 made a safe landing at Rapid City’s Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota, on July 7th.The Airbus A320-200, flying from Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Rapid City Regional Airport, South Dakota, accidentally landed on the airport’s air force base.
The plane landed safely.
No one was injured.

Why: On takeoff, passengers witnessed one of the Flybe’s wheels shooting sparks and detaching.The pilot dumped fuel and circled for an hour and a half before returning to land safely at the airport. There were no injuries.

Cargojet Flight Returns to Cologne due to Engine Issue
Cargojet flight W8-1894 made an emergency landing in Cologne, Germany, on December 12th.The Boeing 767-300 plane took off for Hamilton, Canada, but had to turn back due to an engine problem.
The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.
Engine Icing Warning for 747 and 787
Boeing warned 15 carriers to avoid flying the 747 and 787 near “high level thunderstorms” because of a risk of engine-icing problems. Six incidences of GEnx engines losing thrust at high altitude because of a buildup of ice crystals behind the front fan led to Boeing issuing a notice probating flying at high altitude within 50 miles of thunderstorms.
In the meantime, GE and Boeing are working to control the problem.
