    Jet Blue Emergency Landing in San Juan

    What: Jetblue Embraer ERJ-190 en route from San Juan Puerto Rico to Fort Lauderdale,FL
    Where: San Juan
    When: Mar 6th 2010
    Who: 35 passengers and 4 crew
    Why: While en route just after takeoff, smoke was found in the cabin. The crew decided to return to San Juan where they made a safe landing. Evacuation was uneventful.

    A replacement jet was provided.

    TX: Instructor and Student Crash

    What: Tecnam P2002 Sierra
    Where: Sterrett Road / Ellis County Sportmen’s Club, Waxahachie, TX
    When: Jan 23 2010
    Who: flight instructor and student
    Why: While the plane was en route, witnesses saw the plane nosedive into a field 20 minutes after it took off from Dallas Executive Airport. The tail was reported to be sticking straight up.

    Zambia Crash Endangers President’s Staff

    What: Zambia Air Force plane registration # AF 215 en route to Kasempa
    Where: Mukinge airstrip in Kasempa
    When: October 16, 2010
    Who: Government officials from President Rupiah Banda’s staff
    Why: According to published reports, the pilot delayed his descent, landed too far down the runway. He applied emergency brakes and lost control of the plane, which crashed past the end of the runway.

    Government workers including Minister Mike Mulongoti, Community Development Minister, Michael Kaingu and Finance Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane were aboard but unharmed

    Small Swiss-owned Planet Crashes after “problems” in Parchim


    What: Twin Club Diamond DA42 Twin Star
    Where: Schwerin-Parchim Airport, Germany
    When: May 28, 2012
    Who: 4 aboard, 2 fatalities
    Why: After the pilot reported to ATC of having problems with the aircraft just after takeoff, the flight crashed in a forest near the town of Parchim. The 58 year old Swiss pilot and one 61 year old Swiss female passenger were reported as fatalities. Emergency services arrived in time to free two others (also Swiss) from the aircraft.

    They were injured and ported by helicopter to a hospital.

    The names have not been released.

    Zamboanga Helicopter Lost at Sea; Pilots Missing; US to aid Search

    What: Philippine Navy Volco 411 helicopter performing routine maneuvers
    Where: 1,500 yards from Great Santa Cruz Island Philippines
    When: August 17 2010
    Who: 5 aboard, two missing pilots: First Lieutenant Cristan Corpuz and First Lieutenant Gerald Tamayo
    Why: The crew was engaged in documenting a Special Operations unit Amphibious Small Boat exercise; they were taking aerial photos and videos when they seemed to have engine trouble–although the actual cause will be a mystery until the investigation.

    The US is going to assist in recovery with their towed sonar. The crash site us 8 to 9 fathoms deep.

    Petty Officers Abdon Martinez, Noel Ridad and Rodolfo Pataweg are the survivors.

    Air Canada Turbulence Injures 9

    What: Air Canada Airbus A330-300 en route from Toronto to Montreal
    Where: Montreal Canada
    When: Sep 25th 2011
    Who: 257 aboard, 9 injured
    Why: On approach to Montreal, the Air Canada flight encountered turbulence.
    Six members of the cabin crew were injured in the turbulence. Three passengers were injured.

    On landing in Montreal, there was a 105 minute delay, after which the cabin crew could not work. Alternative crew members, presumably worked the next leg of the flight to Brussels
