    Homebuilt Amphibious Crashes on Lake

    What: Avid Catalina home-built, single-engine amphibious aircraft taking off from the lake near Camp Longhorn.
    Where: Inks Lake in Burnet County
    When: Wednesday at 1:30 p.m
    Who: pilot Jim Eachus
    Why: The plane’s wing tip skimmed the water, sending the plane into a cartwheel. The pilot appeared outside of the plane but did not make it ashore. It was several days before the pilot was found.

    Ultralight Crash Kills Pilot, Student


    What: LANG Zenair CH 601 Zodiac
    Where: Pi?a Airport, Poland
    When: May 3 2012
    Who: 2 aboard, 2 fatalities
    Why: 42-year-old Thomas D. Miroslawiec, pilot instructor with the Czech branch of Pila flight school was flying with a 57 year old student, and crashed around 20.00 in a forested area. The accident occurred when the plane was banking to the left. Witnesses say they heard engine problems and saw it fall into the forest. The probably cause is being called a motor failure. TT\he prosecutor and police conducted a visual inspection of the wreck and reported that the plane had been performing a planned training flight.

    The airfield is a former military airport build in the 80’s.

    The plane fell in a straight line about 500 meters from the northern end of the runway. The plane is badly damaged – burned and bent. Three fire trucks, two ambulances and two police units responded to the scene of the crash.

    The Zenair Zodiac is an Ultra-light.

    Experimental Plane Crash kills 3

    What: EXP BEARHAWK Fixed Wing Single-Engine Regis#: 3WC owned by William Cox en route from a private airstrip in Beach City RWJ Airpark
    Where: ANAHUAC TX in Chambers Count landing in an open pasture 30 miles east of Houston.
    When: Thursday 01/29/2009 3 p.m.
    Who: Pilot and two passengers were aboard
    Why: Wtnesses reported hearing an engine sputter before seeing the plane nosedived into the ground. The plane was an experimental class plane

    Cessna Crashes in the Front Yard of Granville County Home

    CessnaA Cessna 150 crashed in the front yard of a house in Granville County neighbourhood, North Carolina, late on August 28.

    The plane departed at 6:13 p.m. from Bowman Field in Louisville, Kentucky and was on its way to Elizabeth City Regional Airport in North Carolina, when it clipped some tress and went down in bushes in the front yard of the house at 3002 Krogen Court, Granville County.

    Raleigh-Durham International Airport officials reported that they were informed about a plane having problem at about 11:05 p.m., but the connection with the plane got lost. The wreckage of the plane was located at 12:30 a.m. Friday.

    The pilot was injured and was taken to Duke Hospital where his condition is believed to be stable.

    The residents of the house were sleeping at the time and did not hear any noise. The homeowner Ashley Bartlett said, “I don’t think the reality of it set in until we were leaving the scene and driving to the hotel. It could have been catastrophic.”

    The aircraft is registered to Ethan Leggett of Pewee Valley, Kentucky.

    The NTSB is investigating the cause of crash.

    Trike Crash in Western Cape


    On January 10, 2013, a Windlass Aquila Trike en route from Wintervogel Airfield with an instructor and student pilot took off on a training flight. Bystanders reported that the pilot turned back toward the airputt but crashed and caught fire.

    Wintervogel is a private airfield near Klipheuwel in the Western Cape. The pilot was reported to be German, and the passenger from Tableview.

    Paramedics and an emergency team responded to the scene but there were two fatalities.

    Light Plane Crashes into Mountains in Macedonia; 6 Killed

    A light plane crashed into the mountains in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia, on September 7th.

    The aircraft travelling from Treviso, Italy, lost contact with the control centre just six miles away from Skopje Airport.

    All 6 people onboard were killed in the crash.

    The crash remains under investigation.
