    FedEx Flight Diverts to Wichita due to Hydraulic Failure

    FedExFedEx flight FX-3022 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Wichita, Kansas, on May 3rd.

    The freight plane, heading from Oakland, California, to Newark, New Jersey, was diverted after the crew reported a hydraulic failure.

    JetBlue Flight Makes Safe Landing After Bird Strike

    JetBlue Airways flight B6-1038 made a safe landing following a bird strike near Boston, Massachusetts, on August 31st.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Austin, Texas, was on approach to Boston when a bird impacted it.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    128th Air Refueling Wing Plane Makes Emergency Landing

    128th Air Refueling Wing.A 128th Air Refueling Wing plane had to make an emergency landing at Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, due to mechanical issues, on August 7.

    The incident happened when the KC-135R Stratotanker was on a routine training missions with 4 people aboard. The hydraulics on the boom, used for fueling, stopped working at about 2 p.m. when it was flying over Illinois.

    The plane safely landed after about 40 minutes. 128th Air Refueling Wing Col. James Locke said, “The air crew is trained and disciplined, and they know how to handle in-flight emergencies. We have simulators, and we have routine functions that make this very doable, very manageable.”

    Small Plane Crashes near Ardmore Airport, New Zealand

    Cessna2A light aircraft crashed in a paddock around 3.5 km east of the aerodrome at the Ardmore Airport, Auckland, New Zealand, on June 29.

    The incident happened just before 1:45 p.m., after the engine of the Airline Flying Club Cessna 152 failed. The aircraft was severely damaged after it skidded 200 meters across the paddock into a drain, and ended up on its roof.

    The female pilot, who was just in her 20s, and her female student suffered minor injuries. Both of them were taken to Middlemore Hospital by ambulance.

    Phil Welcome, the chief flying instructor at Airline Flying Club, appreciated the skill of the newly recruited pilot and said “It looks like she’s done an excellent job, and the only problem is at the end of her take-off run she’s encountered a drainage ditch.”

    Welcome said a team of engineers would check the aircraft to find out the cause of the engine failure. He said “In these airplanes, engine failure is actually very, very rare.”

    Senior Sergeant Ian Brenchley responded at the scene and started investigation on behalf of the Civil Aviation Authority.

    SkyWest Airlines Plane Diverts to Las Vegas due to Medical Emergency

    SkyWest Airlines flight OO-3565 made an emergency landing at McCarran International Airport, Nevada, on February 22nd.

    The plane heading from Palm Springs, California, to Salt Lake City, Utah, was diverted after a passenger suffered a medical emergency.

    The plane landed safely. The patient was taken to a hospital.

    Plane Hits Airbridge

    On April 22, 2013 at 10:30am, a Los Angeles-Sydney-Melbourne flight damaged its wing while on the ground.

    The United Airlines Boeing 747-400 was pulling into an air bay when it struck the airbridge of a parking bay at the airport in Melbourne.

    Passengers disembarked by stairs. There were no injuries but the plane required repairs.
