What: Delta Airlines Boeing 737-800 en route from Los Angeles to Detroit
Where: Detroit

Why: The flight was on approach to Detroit and flew into turbulence.
A passenger and a flight attendant were injured.
The flight landed safely in Detroit. The flight attendant was hospitalized.
A small plane crashed at Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport in Gainesville, Florida, on November 17th.
The Lancair International Legacy plane was carrying two people when it went down.
The pilot, identified as Robert Carlisle Alberhasky, 68, of Cumming, was killed in the crash. His passenger Mark Lewis, 69, of Flowery Branch, was injured and was taken to a hospital.
The FAA and the NTSB are investigating.
What: Continental Airlines Boeing 737-800 en route from Houston to Chicago
Where: Saint Louis
When: May 8th 2011
Who: disruptive passenger
Why: While en route, a passenger attempted to open a plane door, saying he had to get out of the plane. He was subdued and restrained, as the flight diverted to Lambert International Airport, where the passenger in question was released into police custody. Charges may be pending.

What: Frontier Airlines Airbus A319-100 en route from San Francisco to Denver
Where: Denver
When: Mar 4th 2010
Who: not available
Why: While on approach to Denver, the airbus encountered a flock of birds, and multiple bird strikes ensued. The plane made a safe landing.
The cockpit glass sustained damage.
UTair flight UT-580 made an emergency landing in Krasnodar, Russia, on October 1st.
The Boeing 737-800 plane heading from Sochi to Moscow, Russia, was diverted due to an issue with the landing gear.
The plane landed safely. All one hundred and seventy-six people aboard remained unharmed.
The airline said a bird strike during departure caused the landing gear problem.

What: Egypt Air Airbus A321-200 en route from Cairo to Tripoli
Where: Benghazi
When: Oct 5 2010
Why: While en route, the plane experienced a hydraulic failure. The flight diverted to Benghazi, where they were able to make a safe landing after manually deploying landing gear.
Kalitta Charters flight K9-720 suffered a nose gear collapse after landing in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on January 28th
The incident happened when the Boeing 727-200 freighter plane was coming from Laredo, Texas.
The plane became disabled on the runway. Everyone aboard remained uninjured.
