A Piper PA-24 plane crashed into the woods off Peartree Drive in Westwood, Massachusetts, on July 16th.
The single-engine plane was trying to land at Norwood Memorial Airport when it went down.
There were two people aboard at the time, including the pilot and his passenger; both of them sustained serious injuries. They were taken to hospital.
The cause of crash is being investigated.
American Airlines flight AA-57 had to return and make an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport in London, United Kingdom, on May 3rd.
The plane took off for Miami, Florida, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a maintenance issue related to water pressure.
The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unhurt.
The recent single engine Tomahawk PA38 crash in Hastings killed 46 year old Christopher Howell and 48 year old Christopher Rawlings.
Rawlings, hailing from the Clive in the Hawke’s Bay region, was an instructor at the Hawk’s Bay and East Coast Aero Club.
Howell, a fully qualified and trained pilot from UK, was flying the plane when it bursted into flames mid-air. According to Bruce Govenlock, president of Hawk’s Bay and East Coast Aero Club, Howell wanted to acquire a New Zealand license for getting employment there. He also had to appear for pilot’s validation exam later in the day.
Govenlock also said that the last radio transmission from the plane did not show any sign of trouble. The Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand is investigating the crash.

Why: Pilot Matt Jackson of Van Nuys, Calif had an emergency when he was qualifying for the Reno National Championship Air Races when the landing gear of his vintage Hawker Sea Fury developed problems. His landing gear was visibly stuck, and spotted by his ground crew. He made a safe landing but slid off the runway after his landing gear collapsed.
Air India flight AI-142 made a safe emergency landing at Chennai International Airport, India, on June 22nd.
The Airbus A320-200, en-route from Delhi, India, was about to land when the crew reported hydraulic failure.
The plane landed safely.
No one was injured.

Why: Three men were injured when the helicopter #8341W flown by Darren Fenoglio crashed into Lake Nocona. Lake Nocona is 10 miles from Nocona Texas.
The pilot and both passengers, Josh Walterscheid, and Derrick Morse were injured.
The FAA is investigating, and will be recovering the helicopter.
On Sunday, lake area residents assisted in recovering the passengers from the lake. Dr. Kabisch in his kayak was the first emergency responder. Toby Howard also assisted with a pontoon, taking the injured to the beach at Boone Park where more emergency responders were assembled.
Fenoglio, Walterscheid and Morse, were taken to Nocona General Hospital.
A military helicopter crashed in Makurdi, Benue State, Nigeria, on November 24.
According to sources, the Augusta AW101 Chopper had landed but it suddenly moved up again and tumbled.
There was only one person aboard, who sustained minor scratches.
The incident remains under investigation.
