    Bad Day for Helicopters


    Didn’t mention this all together yesterday but it was a bad day (or two) for helicopters.

    On Mar 19

    • Bristow Academy Inc Schweitzer 269C-1 training flight; chopper lost power and crash-landed Highway US-1 near Titusville, FL. Two aboard, no injuries

    On Mar 21

    • Bundespolizei Aérospatiale AS 332L1 Super Puma was in a training exercise in snowy conditions at Berlin’s Olympic Stadium. The Super Puma struck the EC-155 while landing, and fell. THe EC-155 pilot died on the scene, and three were injured.

    Allegiant Air Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Jacksonville International Airport

    AllegiantAn Allegiant Air flight had to make an emergency landing at Jacksonville International Airport, Florida, on October 19th.

    The plane flying from North Dakota to Orlando, Florida, was diverted due to mechanical issues.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All 154 people aboard remained safe.

    DC-3 Crashes at Mojave-Kern

    What: National Test Pilot School’s AMI 65 TP Turbo DC-3 Registration N834TP
    Where: Mojave-Kern County Airport, CA
    When: 05 FEB 2009
    Who: crew of 2 pilots-one taken by ambulance to the hospital; the other drove himself.
    Why: The DC-3 was in takeoff phase from runway 30. After liftoff, it dropped and veered off the runway and sustained substantial damage. Six hundred gallons of fuel leaked from the plane as a result of damage.

    Single Engine Plane Crash Lands in Clermont County

    Single engineA single engine plane crash landed on a golf course in southwest Ohio, after its engine failed.

    The plane took off from the Clermont County Airport at 10:45 am on April 12, and just before 11 am, it had to make an emergency landing in the Stillmeadow Country Club.

    There were two people on board, Kenneth Howes who was flying the plane and Karla Goodhouse who is a licensed commercial pilot and owned the plane. Both the passengers suffered only minor injuries.

    3 Killed, 1 Seriously Injured as a Small Plane Crashed in Southern Slovenia

    small planeA small Robin DR400 aircraft crashed, shortly after taking off from the Divaca sports airport in southern Slovenia on September 14.

    There were 4 people aboard the plane including the pilot. According to police spokesperson Anita Leskovec, “Three people were killed and one is in serious condition. We can’t confirm their identities yet.”

    The aircraft belonged to a local Aero club near Ljubljana.

    The cause of crash is under investigation.

    Alaska Airlines Flight Diverts to Spokane due to Medical Emergency

    An Alaska Airlines flight made an emergency landing in Spokane, Washington, on September 21st.

    The plane heading from Chicago, Illinois, to Seattle, Washington, was diverted after a passenger suffered a medical emergency.

    The plane landed safely. The patient was rushed to a hospital.
