    What: A US Airways Airbus A320-200 en route from Phoenix to New Jersey
    Where: Phoenix
    When:
    Who: 150 passengers and 5 crew
    Why: During/after takeoff, the plane’s engine “popped” when the left engine compressor stalled. The pilot reported engine trouble, andreturned to Phoenix where they made a safe landing. An alternative plane was provided.

    Air Canada Flight Returns to Heathrow Airport

    Air CanadaAir Canada flight AC-851 had to return and make an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport in London, United Kingdom, on February 3rd.

    The Boeing 787-800 plane took off for Calgary, Canada, but had to return shortly afterwards due to an electrical smell in the cabin.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    AA Flight Diverted to Japan after Hitting Turbulence; 14 Injured

    American AirlinesAmerican Airlines Flight 280 was forced to make an emergency landing at Narita international airport in Japan, early on December 17.

    The plane heading from Seoul, South Korea, to Dallas, Texas, had to be diverted after it encountered severe turbulence.

    The flight, carrying 255 people, landed at around 12:55 a.m. Authorities said atleast 14 people were injured due to turbulence. Five of them were shifted to hospital while the others were treated at the scene.

    The Airline said in a statement, “American’s primary concern at this time is for our passengers and crew on board the airplane and our team in Narita is providing assistance.”

    Bird-Hit Delta Airlines Plane Makes Safe Landing in Jackson

    Delta Airlines flight DL-1411 made a safe landing following a bird strike in Jackson, Mississippi, on January 26th.

    The plane flying from Atlanta, Georgia, was on approach to Jackson when a bird hit it.

    The crew continued for a safe landing. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Air Berlin Plane Diverts to Kuwait due to Electronic Problems

    air berlinAir Berlin flight AB-7495 made an emergency landing in Kuwait, on April 20th.

    The plane, heading from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, to Berlin, Germany, had to be diverted due to electronic problems.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    British Airways Flight Returns to Heathrow Airport due to Electrical Odor

    British Airways flight BA-123 had to return and make an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport, United Kingdom, on February 12th.

    The Boeing 777-200 plane took off for Doha, Qatar, but had to turn back after the crew reported an electrical odor onboard.
