    Alaska Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Seattle

    Alaska Airlines flight AS-1506 had to return and make an emergency landing in Seattle, Washington, on February 26th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Santa Ana, California, but had to turn back after the crew noticed an unusual odor on board.

    The plane landed safely. The cabin crew were taken to a hospital for evaluation.

    American Eagle Plane Returns to Beaumont Due to Hot-Engine Warning

    American eagleAn American Eagle flight had to return and make an emergency landing at Jack Brooks Regional Airport in Beaumont, Texas, on December 11.

    The twin-engine plane, en-route to Dallas, had to turn back after a hot-engine warning light turned on.

    The plane landed uneventfully at 11:38 a.m. No one was injured.

    The incident is under investigation.

    Why: While en route, the plane developed cabin pressurization problems, descended to 10000 feet diverting to Minneapolis,MN.

    Air France Flight Diverts to Salt Lake City Due to Bomb Threat

    Air FranceAir France flight AF065 made an emergency landing in Salt Lake City, Utah, on November 17.

    Authorities said the flight, en-route from Los Angeles to Paris, was diverted due to a bomb threat.

    The plane landed safely. None of the 497 passengers and crew members were harmed.

    The airline said, “Local authorities are carrying out complete inspections of the aircraft, the passengers and their luggage. An investigation will be led by the authorities to identify the source of the telephone call.”

    US Airways Strikes Geese over Rochester

    What: US Airways A319-100 en route from Rochester to Charlotte
    Where: Rochester
    When: March 11, 2010
    Who: 124 passengers (126?)
    Why: According to interviews by the airport director, immediately after an uneventful takeoff, the jet flew through a flock of geese. Passengers heard an engine combust, and smelled something burning. The flight landed safely within thirty minutes, and apparently passengers clapped on landing.

    It has been three years since Rochester’s last reported bird strike.

    1 Killed in Graves County Helicopter Crash

    A helicopter crashed at a Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) site in Graves County, Kentucky, on July 11th.

    The Bell 407 helicopter went down while it was attempting to land at the site located between Paducah and Mayfield.

    The pilot, who was the only one aboard, was killed in the crash. He was identified as John Love of Maryville, Tennessee. TVA authorities confirmed that Love had been an employee for 17 years.

    The cause of crash is being investigated.
